Thanks for all the opinions - that's exactly what I was hoping for.

I too have a soft spot for an original '32 Henry steel Ford. Who the hell wouldn't, right? The one in question is a Tudor that needs some serious work in all areas. But its a real deal '32 Ford.

I also have a soft spot for roadsters and a late 1940's hot rod would have more likely been a roadster than a sedan. IMO a Brookville is a half step behind an original Ford but a half a step ahead of fibergl***. A real Henry roadster is not an available option for me at this point, maybe someday though.

The whole Michigan weather thing is a good argument for a closed car. But nothing a winter hat, mittens, and long underwear can't take care of in a roadster. :D

I'll let you all know what happens soon.

    Thanks again guys,

    Mike

Being a later closed car guy, I am swayed todar the Tudor ! Closed cars are just more practical in my eye . . . . Don't shoot the late model guy ('41 Fords Forever !).

Tudor sedan or Fordor sedan? If 32 Tudor sedan, yes. If Fordor sedan, maybe.

Roadster...always top of the list followed by 3W then 5W Coupes.

Build the real 32 tudor. Find a roadster body later and swap out if you want. Or have a roadster body and swap on the sedan body. Get a gl*** one and use it as a hot tub in the winter.
Or cut the roof of the tudor sedan and make it a phaeken. just kidding.

I have a Brookville '32 roadster pickup. Henry never even produced this body in this configuration...... & no part of me is ashamed of it.

I'd take a shorter season in a ******* car over a longer season in a closed car.

A good day in a roadster is worth suffering through the bad days.

This is not a serious question .. It's Henry Steel ! You buy a Brookville or others only when you can not find real Henry metal. Using real Henry steel is harder and many times more expensive ... but you it is original, the real thing.

    and I agree .. sedans

I always wanted a 29 Roadster, the rest were OK but it had to be a Roadster. Well in 2002 I ordered a Brookville 29 Roadster, and built it, and it was OK. But never having had a Roadster, I found that the wind was always in my face, (good for a while) Rain was a trip. And about that time I got a 29 Pk Up and well the Roadster was sold, still drive the Pk Up, and love it. It was 53 yesterday and windows down, it was still nice to just drive. I fixed the top so I can unsnap it if I want the all out doors, and have never unsnaped it. Maybe im getting old, but no more Roadsters for me. I still like them, but I got over the love affair with them, with in the year. Iceman

build up a 32 ch***is first & by the time your done you may pull that winning lotto ticket & then you can go get a 3 window. :)

id go for the "kit car" (whatever that is?!) a fresh new steel roadster. no patch panels, probably a lot less plastic, bolt it on the ch***is & slap it around a little. only one window to deal with, no garnish mouldings, no window regulators, no roof insert, maybe have a rumble seat for the mother inlaw & you could keep her screaming right through high gear.

a deuce roadster with the 'right' look is hard to beat. although i like sedans too.
    id say roadster.

There are more "32 roadsters" on the road today than were originally built by Henry Ford. When somebody says to me "I have a '32 roadster", if I am in a good mood my immediate response - before I yawn - is "What color?".

Forget the real or reproduction debate - if you want a roadster there is no subs***ute. If you NEED (weather, kids, wife, etc.) a closed car, the sedan makes a great traveling bullet. I have an A Roadster PU, but I wish for a sedan all winter long.

If it's about money, IMO the sedan will cost more unless you already own the sedan. The last nice sedan I saw for sale was $10,000 and still needed work. Plus you'll have more interior, more gl***, and then there's a/c, etc.

Finally, for you guys who think a Brookville body is a "kit" car, you have not actually seen one. Heck, they entered a repro '29 roadster in the Model A nationals in NY a few years back and won their cl***! They confessed and gave the award back, but they fooled the best judges of "Henry" stuff.

This is actually a pretty interesting question with lots of interesting answers.

I'm more about the end result rather than the beginning....and I think being able to know the difference has a lot to do with how you answer this question.

Since most of us here could benefit from a visual to come up with an honest answer, lets pretend that Tom Branch's roadster was built from a Brookville body (it wasn't, but bear with me):

Now, both of these cars are built in a similar style by the same guy (or group of guys), and I ask you to answer honestly which one you would rather drive...

I'd take Tom's roadster over his wife's sedan any day of the week including Sunday....even if it would have started life or began as a Brookville roadster body.

Of course, your answer may be different....but the good thing about hot rodding is that there really isn't a right answer. Build what makes you happy.

Both are cool done right. I've seen both look stupid. The cool factor your looking for is how the hot rod is finished... I've seen real steel 32 3 windows look real bad.
