This is what dreams are made of! This weekend the temp was in the low 70's, the garage is finally finished all the honey do's on the list are done and the wife and kid helped work on the hot rod all day Saturday and Sunday!! I don't think it gets much better than this. Thought i might share a pix or two.
That was a good weekend. Reminds me of holding the flashlight for my dad, adjusting valves in my moms dart.
I just spent saturday pulling the transaxle out of my youngest daughters build it yourself Sabaru with her help. Then she replaced the bashed in oil pan ( learning about: Aluminum blocks, small bolts, and the proper use of an inch-poundd torque wrench) and then we set the engine back in place. It fun teaching the next generation og gearheads no mater what the project car is. next saturday replacing the flywheel, clutch and reinstalling the trans axle. The whole story is she use to be in charge of washing the racecar inbetween sessions when she was your daughters age, and has been a gearhead ever since. We always had a clean race car - in her young eyes, and her mom was one of the ch***is people on the team. We still go to back to the 50's as a family
The picture of your child at the hot rod is priceless. I laughed out loud...so cute. Merry Christmas to you and your young family. - Rick
Bought it from HAMBer ROADSTERJEFF back in march. Didn't know what I was getting into. Thought I would just throw in a V8. So that lead to a whole car build up. Boxed the frame, juice brakes, rumble seat, new sheet metal floor, T5 trans, open drive shaft, V8 motor, vega box, new wiring, etc, etc. I'll post up picture of the build soon. I should be driving her next weekend IF all goes well. Hand wrenches only, looks like the cylinder head in the pix. She is putting on the header for me. Yesterday she installed the steering column and set up the steering to the box. She also helped finish up the electrical. Now to chase down a fuel leak and ****on this car up. The punch list is pretty small now.
