As a teener in the Netherlands i was crazy about this car because at that moment there were none (zero) hotrods in Holland.
Now about 25 years later there are more than 100 hotrods in Holland, not a lot but a lot more than zero.

Not so much a car but a movie, American Grafitti. That and all the stories my dad would tell me.

A friend of mine's dad from elementry school had 50+ hot rods. They ranged from Model A's, 50's buicks, 60's mustangs and so on. He needed a huge barn to keep them all in! Every time I went over there was something new

My dad was in the army. He was stationed in germany for about 6 months before we where able to get housing. When we finally went over to germany with him he got me a whole shoe box full of Cartoons comic books. I was about 8 then. Been hooked on speed ever since.

Growing up we had a 40 chevy sedan that my dad would take my brother and I for rides in on the weekends. Absolutely loved that car. My brother still has it out in chicago so i still get to see it about once a year. Some day i plan on having one as well. maybe when I get some of the other projects done.

after watching the ridicule and pompous attitudes on this site, the better question is, what do you cosider to be a "real hotrod", and why?...

This is the first real Hot Rod / Custom I had ever seen in person,..... it won 3rd place at the first Detroit Autorama in '53,..... 1936 Ford Coupe chopped, filled quarter windows, cowl vent, and deck lid, frenched fenders and custom rockers, rounded door corners, solid hood sides, Plymouth bumpers, it first ran a flathead then a 303 Olds.

  13. Wow,
That car makes me want to get into hotrods over and over again! Cool car good thread!

  14. Grew up with a '70 Gran Prix in the garage that my dad eventually got back out and fixed up and I drove. One of a very small number with a factory 4-speed. He did a few car shows with it, which got me up close to other cars, and so it goes...

I've been into hot rods since day one thanks to my dad but this the one that inspired me... it was built and raced in the 60's by my dad, uncle and grandfather. I'm obsessed with this car and I never get tired of posting pictures of it. It's the inspiration for my current model a project. Isn't it awesome?!

Ivo's, Norm's, Roth's and Tognotti's T's. Well-built production based race cars like Tony Nancy's 22jr and all those crazy altereds and coupes. And I forgot the 1/8th scale Monogram Big T model kit(s), too! Gary

The 33 pickup that I drive was my Dad's. He got it in 1953 and I was born in 1955 so I grew up playing in it in the garage. Dad never got it running and I got it from him and built it and took him for his first ride on his 81st birthday in August 2008.

I remember as a little kid riding around in various rods, lowriders, and mild customs depending on what projects my uncles were buying or building. Believe it or not but it was early cartoons that really got me inspired also.--Susie the little blue coupe, One Cabs Family, and others from the good old days. Now days all kids have is junk in my opinion. I know for a fact that my kids(Lord willing) will grow up watching the old stuff we grew up on! Not to make a long post but also growing up with my family that dealt and still deals in antiques, I always seemed to find a cool old car part or something that always had me dreaming of one day owning my own car. So many parts and accessories passed through and I didn't even know that one day would be one of my passions. Wish I could go back in time. Just good old memories..

Impossible to pick one. From the time I could express myself it's always been about the wheels. my mom will tell you if it didn't have wheels I wasn't the least bit interested. Way before I could walk my grandfather used to take me with him on the tractor. The sound of the engine and watching the wheels go around was the only thing that made me content.
The Neikamp roadster was the first hot rod I saw (in Hot Rod Magizine) so that was the first influence.

The forst one I remember is a 64 El Camino that my dad had when I was 3 or 4. It was orange with a four speed. I sold him a 64 rolling chassis a few years ago and it's almost ready to hit the road.

  30. Hilla Monster, the main character blew up the monster with nitro in his 32 roadster, my first memory of a hot rod, what a shame I thought.
