well, I returned from europe, and took the motor apart. I was going to use it in a 26 3 window, but plans wound up in a 31 Tbucket. hemi exhausts are way different, and no way to fabricate anything to make hemi headers work. The passenger exhaust comes out a long ways from the block but the drivers side is nice and tucked in. So I think two drivers exhausts will work. I got the 727 torqueflight adaptor, and a high torque mini starter. The motor is not too bad, as far a gunk and wear, so I am going to replace the bearings, and a new camshaft, and put it back together. I have some stuff up on utube about getting the motor started, and progress of the project. will post more later. Anyway, I need a 331 poly drivers side exhaust manifold, or some sort of headers that will fit, even flanges, I can make my own. Thanks, tom

I think 73RR has flanges, someone does.

I will be using 3.1 gears, so it should not put too much stress on the drive train

Actually, tall axles make the engine work harder to get the same level of acceleration. Only the ring gear, axles and wheels see higher torque with higher ratio.

I hope you understand that for every person either applauding your use of the poly, or your freedom to chose your own engine, there are 10 magazine/internet commandos whose only interest will be to tell you why you were wrong not to use a hemi?
