Upper Gas cl*** would be my guess. It would depend on safety equipment, weight, engine displacement. Back then you either built a car for a specific cl*** with intentions of dominating it or just showing up at the strip and wanting to run for the fun.

As it sits right now, it probably would have had to run Altered cl***. Not so much of engine set-back, but because of a lack of steet equipment like headlights and some sort of exhaust system. If it had the street equipment on it, it could run in Gas cl***. You would have to weigh the car and divide the weight by the cubic inches of the motor to see which one of the Gas cl***es you'd be in.

B/A is a possible late 50's cl*** with a similar configuration.

Tough with the Hemi and carbs because many ran injected on fuel in the early 60's with similar cars.

I agree with Andamo, without the fenders I think it would be in Altered cl***, maybe a C/A or D/A. I agree with the c.i. to weight ratio too.

    Great lookin deuce.

I would say C/Alt. Small motor. 241 or 260? When I had mine D/Alt was for flatheads and inlines.

Looks like C/A or B/A due to the lack of fenders. In order to run Gas cl***, it had to be street legal, including frnders. At least that's the way they did it at Lions.

Besides the lack of fenders, looks like the chop eliminates it from Gas cl*** (4" total chop/channel).....probably Altered & facing some stiff compe***ion.

Like everyone else is saying, your car would have run in an Altered cl*** for sure. I can't find any of my rulebooks from the '60s but I remember cars running 283s were usually in D/Altered and I'm betting that your car would have either been barely in C/A or at the top of D/A. If I'm correct you probably would have added some weight to make the D/A cl***. No matter what cl*** you ran in your car would've been as cool then as it is now. Please post some more pics when you've got it on the street.

Let me worry about what cl*** it would've/could run in right after you sell it to me! That is a hot '32, and I'm generally not very fond of 3 windows. Steven.

ACE...it would have been in ALTERED cl***. the C.I. would determan the cl***. but i would say B/A or C/A. and yes the chopped top and open wheels would put it in altered cl***. it's 1 beautiful old coupe that's for sure and certain. thanks for sharing, man i love that old hot rod...POP.
