_________________________________________________________________ I was looking at your car and didn't recognise it, but reading a few posts, one saying it might have come from NY. Looking at it now, there is no comparison if it is the same car. The car might be a car friends of mine built back in the early 70's. They also built a Opel Wagon, but the car my friends built was like yours, but a street car. It was White with Red & Blue graphics with stars that would be there, then disappear in the field of Blue. It had a BBC and 4 speed, early Olds rear and used Toronado rims out back because of the width of the rear. The rims brought the tires in to an acceptable with. It had an axle in front and I believe a leaf spring rear. The name of the shop.....long gone was Racemaster in Brentwood Long Island, NY. Larry Kelly and Bill Boer were the owners of the shop and the car. That car changed hands I know atleast 4 times while still on Long Island. I can give you an email to Larry Kelly's son Joe, and maybe he can help you out and see if there is still something there to indicate it was the car they built way back when. The address is JKelly8817@aol.com tell him Big Block Bill gave you the info and his email address. Good luck.... let me know how you make out......Bill My email address is bblockbill@aol.com
Have you talked to Mark or Traci Klingerman. They owned the car at some point. They run the Fuelish Monza nostalgia funny car out of Indy. Steve

That is such a wickedly cool ride! Wish I could help you out with info. That looks like the product of a wild, beer-filled night in the shop by someone, and I mean that in a good way!
Good luck, American. Always fun to follow these threads. For what it's worth, that's one of my favorites, too! Love it. Like was stated earlier, you're writing your own chapter in the history books with it - savor it. It'd be great to stage next to you some day...
My mom had a 1970 that my dad traded 2 snowmobiles for. She drove it for a couple of years then he sold it to some guys at his shop where I remember them talking about building a drag car out of it. Doubt it is the same car as they were racing at an old track NW of Jackson Michigan. I forget what the name of the track was-right on the tip of my tongue too.
Wish I could help. I always likes those little Kay-dettes. I once had a 70 1.1 liter, twin carbs, with a 40 gallon gas tank. Perfect gas crisis car (back in the 70s). I would love to own one again but you never see one, let alone one that is rust free.
