Backed the Buick out of the garage today. (sat for 3 days) there was a small puddle of brown fluid in the ground. (right where the rear end sits) kinda looked like rust water, but i'm not sure. I put my finger in it, smelled it and it kinda had an oil smell but not really...so I crawled underneath with a flashlight and it doesn't seem to be leaking. I can't tell what the hell it is. The rear seal looks great, it does have grease on the outside but its not dripping or anything.. What do you think?
Either gear oil, which you would smell and would be thick, brake fluid, which you may or may not smell and looks like rust water alot of the time, or one of your friends is screwing with you. Always a good prank Is there a brake line block on the front side of the rear end housing like on a chavy?
If it's leaking out of the car, there will be traces somewhere. If it's leaking brake fluid, you're going to feel it in the pedal or see new puddles every time you stop the car. Unless it's gas leaking out of a rusty line, look those lines over good too.
yea thats possible. I drove it all day today. parked it tonight and no leaks. so who knows. guess thats just the deal when you have a 60 year old car!
