My company owner knows I'm an old car freak, so he shared these pics from his father-in-law. Howard Hahn lived in Nashville,TN. He was a self-taught electrical engineer and all around gear head as I've been told. Picture #2 is the back of pic#3, and pic #7 is also apparently Beech Bend Park. Probably the same day. Howard Hahn is also the one on the bike. Anybody know what kind of motorcycle that is? Hope somebody else gets a kick out of seeing these like I did. Enjoy.
nice pics. I think It would have been scary as hell to go ripping around in one of them 20's hot rods! Not much to them...
Hey, does that look like the area that drops down the hill to the river down at the back of the camp ground? Back where some people horse around on their 4 wheelers during the hot rod reunion?
Yeah that third photo looks like where the show cars parked down by the river during the hot rod reunion. I'd say its somewhere close to the present day park. Just my opinion.
thanks for posting! i wish i had it in me to dig into an OLD project like replicating one of those! Zach
Here is my original 26 when I drove it to town at +7 a couple weeks ago. Not a hot rod but its a lot of fun around here in the middle of nowhere! Bob
Cool pic's, thanks for sharing! Man, photos like that prove that people have been hot rodding since the first cars were built. Geez, I mean 1920's!? How cool would it be to step right into those pictures......anybody got a time machine?
Did it overheat? HAHA, just kidding. Nice pics of your 26. Something tells me the rest of your place looks really great too. When my dad got his 27 coupe back in the 80s, he had me do the driving while he dragged it around the yard with the station wagon trying to break the wheels loose. So I do have experience driving a stock T. It just wasn't running.
I love seein photos of hot rod history in my own back yard! Beech Bend is less than 4 miles from my house. Back in the day before it was an amusement park and racetrack it was the place to go for Sunday picnics etc and was a real hot spot. I'll see if they can identify the house in some of the photos. They may be taken on the other side of the river as both sides had hangout spots. There are a few abandoned places still standing if you know where to look. You buy the beer and I'll show ya!
It is a J model Harlely. I would say pre 1925, haven't narrowed it down more yet. Nice pics, thanks for posting them, Woody
Great pics. Wonder what they would say if they could see 30's thru 50's rods and customs of today. Probably would say they are not traditional! LOL
Any photos of a 40' Ford coupe with a hop-ed up flathead motor, it was dark green and then black..........my 40' Coupe came from that area. Chris
