Growing up in the early 60's I had several friends with candy stripe interiors. Both the domestic and Mexico tuck and roll jobs had hand stuffed pleats. I doubt the channel foam was in use back then but sure would have made it less labor intensive.
Also from my memory, most of you young guys work is way above the quality I had done in Juarez or the SW US for that matter.
    Very informative article.

Thanks for the info. Just sewed my first tuck and roll practice panel. I think it turned out very well. The fold over s***ch cleaned up some of my crooked first top s***ch. Very nice! Will use it in my '32. Thanks, great tutorial!!!

first off your work is amazing! second i see u are fan of Duran Duran as the poster, sewing machine and other items in your photos demonstrate. third my question what about doing seats with fabric instead of vinyl can a regular sewing machine be used?

I got a big roll of it from a local upholstery supply place. Dunno if a fabric store like JoAnn Fabrics would have it?

This is an old thread but what a great one. Looks like all the pics were hosted on the Communist Photobucket platform, but this may help guys like me that are total upholstery hacks.
