Iv had this car for a couple months now, Don't realy expect anybody to fallow this thread. It's just time that I started an acount of the progress. Overall this car in my taste is killer, though some things eventualy will need to be totaly overhauled Its still a hell of a car. I have about 3 months now before I go on a business trip over seas. The time is ticking so I'm realy hoping to make some killer progress before I leave. First thing is first, never was a fan of the recessed deck lid. The photographs are sloppy and for this I apologize. I am also no metal god, just learning as I go. but hell not bad for a 25 year old punk huh?

minimal warpage, non realy. the waves in the metal to the left are from prior damage and prior body work. I have not hammerd and dollied the metal yet. I expect a very nice metal finish before I start the real body work. I used a cool rag on every series of welds, took a bit of time but came out better than I expected. though I would have preferd a smaller guage wire I ended up using a .30 with flux core. Im sure it would have came out better with gas but maybe next time.

Yeah, I love your car btw! the recess that I cut out was almost as if someone had welded a cookie pan inside, pretty kookie thats why I was on the hunt for a new one.. but this is turning out better than expected.

My eyes keep stopping on the red rim lip, poking out from under the hub cap. Maybe it is just me.

Good looking project. Nice first step. I would have probably started with something easier, so way to go big!

Nice changes, maybe paint it another color, that one kinda hard on the eyes, is it purple or just a funky blue or blurple? I donno.

  18. Funny the work we can un-cover on these old Fords. Seems they have always been a favorite to modify. I sure had a good time doing my 51. I half to say driving it is more fun.

Not sure, maybe Im going to have to take a tip from you. I would like to get some bumper guards for the back. not sure how im going to pull it off.

  29. Mine started as a 55 Pontiac piece. Then I spent way to much time to get the look I wanted. I guess that's the fun of this stuff. Try looking at 57 Ford Ranchero rear guards. I kind of like them and also happen to have a pair. The other thing I like is a 49/50 Merc front guard and cross bar. Just food for thought.
