Outstanding work ! Are you taking orders :)

I have a couple set of steel fenders that are not very nice. I have been trying to upgrade with little success.

I finished the first right rear and fit it to the car. It worked out great...

You know the part that ****s? The next fenders I work on go on a custom coachbuilt German 2dr convertable sedan. The left rear is completly one off hand built and a fixer. Naturally the right rear is a trashed unusable pos.... All of the work with the bucks, and now I need to make a completly wacked out weird fender for a one off '36 ford German "Gl***er Coachworks" custom '36. I look at all of the work put into keeping this car together through the years and it blows me away. I look at this completly handbuilt body, and it's hard to tell the repairs from the original build. Until this build. Now I'm seeing the transition from the "coachbuilt" to the "today" methods. Tig welds insstead of ox-acy welds. The amazing thing is I thought I'd find some amazing craftsmanship in the metalshaping and oxy-acy welding, but really didn't see it. Construction of the body structure and welds were really dissapointing. I'm doing the door skins and lower frames now. I need to ask the owner if he wants pictures posted before I post any. Not that it's that bad. Everything is getting fixed correctlly. I just need to give him the choice. It's a very interesting project.....

  8. Hey Dyce, not to change the subject but do you head up to Kool Deadwood Nights in August? Thinking of taking the model a up there this year. Awesome job on the fenders. I need rear fenders and front fenders for mine. perhaps when you take orders in the future i will jump in line and finally get mine on the road.

Nope I've never been there. Thanks for the compliment. The fenders have been a learning experience.

Dyce fit looks great. Can you give any kind of estimate on the hrs to build just the fenders.

Dan it's hard to say really. I've been working out the kinks on the bucks at the same time and really havn't kept good track of time. I feel I could do one in around 40 hours now. Can't help thinking after I do more I could speed that up. Trouble is I have lots of other work to do.
