Hi Guys, I am about to come up on a 52 international truck, but has no motor in it, currently. To get it running, I'd like to find a 258 motor to go in it, any leads out there? I don't know where I can find one of these. If anyone knows, let me know. Thanks! Keiko
Why not an International 6? I've got an IH BG241 in my Metro and a 258 in my AMC Eagle. I couldn't imagine the 258 in the truck. I understand it's easier to find 258 parts and you may already have a transmission for a 258. Another option is a Ford 300. Good luck.
Probably helps if you tell us it's a 258 AMC six, or something else. Tried a you-pull-it yard lately? AMC stuff isn't like trying to find Duesenberg parts.
I was looking for some lifters from a Cornbinder RD450 or any Red Diamond engine. I guess they go from 300 inches to 500 inches. I saw some guy selling 1.9 to 1 roller rocker ***emblys for the RD 'binders. That would be different. Anybody have 8 lifters for one of these?
I worked for AMC/ Chrysler for over 30 years I am almost certain we built the international engines, 258's for them and painted them red or black I remember back in the days.. So as far as getting parts for one of them engines just go with an AMC engine used in the jeep or concords, hornets, gremlins, etc models. I know theyr'e are few around e****ially in Kenosha here and if you posted a want add on CL in kenosha wi, milwaukee area. Im sure you would get a bunch or replys. Hope this helps.
Could do something real different and put a 4.0 out of a Jeep Cherokee into it. My friend put one in his 84 Eagle, we switched out the intake, distributor, and flex plate. All the stuff off of the 258 fit no problem.
You could ask over at the Binders forum. http://www.binderplanet.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9 They put AMC 232 and 258's in IH Scouts but the other trucks all had IH engines. O/T but I put a Jeep 4.0 head on my 258 block with the 4.0 exhaust manifold, 258 intake with a Motorcraft 2100 carb and a Comp Cams cam. I dynoed before and after. 112HP to 180HP. It goes pretty good but the power comes on up top and it doesn't have the low end I would want for a truck. Could be my cam choice though.
