Is it even remotely possible that if you have a set of spindle mounted wheels for an Anglia spindle, that a combination of bearings will work with that wheel on early Ford spindles?! I'm using a SB axle but am holding back on spindles until I find out if this is possible. I'll more than likely have to find out by playing around with 'em, but was hoping someone may have already experienced this situation. I'm not even sure, are the Ford spindle diameters larger, can the races be pulled out of my wheels and then machined for larger ones? Do any of you racer types have specs for Anglia races and spindle dimensions, likewise for the Ford stuff? Will I think of even dumber things to try and do? Tune in.....

Last I heard it was headed for the Tech Archives.

The only way to do it is to machine the Ford spindles to Anglia spindle specs. I've seen it done, but don't know how safe it is.

Uh, I just reread my post and I guess I'd better back up a little. There is ALWAYS more than one way of solving a problem. Sorry 'bout that.

How about swapping your Anglia spindlemounts for some Ford spindlemounts? I'll bet one of the "wheel"er dealers would work a trade somehow. I know when I decided to leave a lighter front end under my Anglia, I didn't have to look long to find someone with Anglia spindlemounts that wanted the Ford spindlemounts I already had. Gotta work the other way too.

Worth a shot I suppose. Anyone want to swap some fully polished starburst style Hals that fit Anglia spindles for some Ford sized wheels?

I need to start checking the archives, there was a bunch of topics related to that.

There are quite a few folks that buy and sell wheels. You might check with Brandon here on the HAMB. I haven't really kept up whith who buys and sells now, but Ray Williams on the east coast and Rods West on the west coast used to deal in vintage wheels. There's got to be quite a few more.

    Hi Jeem,

I can't add any more to what's been said

I would think machining is in order if you are to use the parts you have.

either the wheels to take the Ford bearings,
or the Spindles to take the Anglia bearings
or both wheels and spindles to take some third party bearings...

there must be others here that have done it.

I used to wheel and deal these, and unless prices have dramatically changed, the Fords are worth more because there just isn't a big demand for the anglias.

DSC00637.jpg I've got a pair of 15" amercan 12 spokes to fit anglia spindles. My machine shop didn't have a problem cutting down the 37-41 ford spindles.

I recently purchased a set of wire wheels (for t bucket) that where mounted on anglia spindles, I'm wondering with different bearings will these fit on speedway motors spindles or will I have to have machining done any suggestions.
