Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by paperdog, Dec 30, 2009.

  1. Has anybody seen this merc fordoor it was chopped in 1980 by my freind BOB MAXWELL ..Sorry to say that he just passed away over the xmas holiday
and while diggin thru pics for his family i found the only one i have of this car

it was super low and he drove it from 1979 til labout 84-85

any body from around here know where it is ?

it was a big hit at BTTF in the early years ..
every head turned when he drove it thru the crowd .:D. chopped so low the side windows were to short for a root beer mug from a/w to pass thru .the stock front seat was uselees as it was 3 inches taller than the roof.... barely a glimpse of whitewall showed under the fender skirts .. lowered without bags .. always in primer

i have not seen it since i drove it to a relative of his for storage...

    ?????

If this is the car I'm thinking of,it was in Old Cars Weekly years ago in the coverage of the Mid Century Merc meet in Wisconsin, probably about the time you're talking about.
    Very cool lines.

Awesome car. It had split 49 Plymouth bumpers on the back. It has been on the H.A.M.B several times. The photos wre taken by Joel Peters( Peter Pan of Chicago). The last thread they were on had something about 49 Plymouth bumpers on 49-51 Mercs in the title

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't that owned by Tom Larkey at one time? I thought I heard it may have gotten cut up further, but I may be wrong. I have a couple of friends who were buddies of Larkey's in the Crusin Customs. Next time i see them, I'll ask what they know.

This doesn't happen to be the same bob who had the pontiac powered f1 pickup who recently passed?

    If so he's sorely missed
