Can Some One Tell Me What Color The Valve Covers Were On A 56 Chrysler 354 CID Hemi. Thanks For Any And All Your Help.
Valve covers, intake, heads, and block were all painted silver. The wire covers were black. This is the case for all non-300 engines. On those, the valve covers were painted gold while everything else was silver.
When i bought my mine the block water pump and intake was silver but the sump and valve covers was blue green it look it was the original paint on them
I got a 20% share in a 354 hemi, and the covers are orange. Pretty sure it's the only paint that has been on them too. Engine was pulled out of the Chrysler in about '70. Got a pic somewhere... Yup...there ya go.
Never seen blue green on any Mopar engines until the B-blocks around '65. Didn't see orange until the RB stuff about 1962. As far as I know, this is what an original non-300 1956 Chrysler Hemi looks like. And this is a stock restored '56 300B engine compartment.
Thank You All. Reason Why I Asked Is Because A Buddy Of Mine Has One And He Painted The Covers Hunter Green??. They Look Like%^%&**## So I Told Him That Was Not The Correct Color. But He Told me I Was Wrong. So Now I'll Show Him Your Answerers And The Pictures. Thanks Again Don
I painted mine silver, but took the liberty to paint "Chrysler Fire Power" the color of the car, Burgundy.
This is my 354. It came out of a '56 Chrysler New Yorker that I bought (complete & running) about 10 years ago. I dismantled the car myself and, from what I saw, I don't think the engine had ever been out of the car. Except for the blue water pump, which was probably changed numerous times over the years, the engine is silver with silver valve covers and red wire covers. I'm in the process of building a '38 Chevy coupe around this one.
