Okay...I've been lurking on here for a while and I just want the "Ya Finally Got Register..." Menu to go away! I've been into cars my whole life...I grew up working on 60's Fords (in the early 90's). I still love working on a 200 6! Several years ago, with money from our wedding (VERY VERY UNDERSTANDING WIFE) I sold my '64 Fairlane to my Dad and bought a '51 Studebaker Champ. She sat for over 6 years (the CAR not the wife...come on!) and I lost interest. I wanted something to DRIVE. Ended up selling the Stude and bought a '53 Ford Customline (off here!). While I know a little bit about everything and a whole lot about nuthin'...I plan on doing most of the work myself (eventually along with my 2 year old son!). The '53 even has the lil' 215 in it so I'm not too far out of my comfort zone. Eventually, it may have something with 8 cylinders (then again maybe not) BUT until then...I'm driving it 'till it quits! Anyway, GREAT information on here....Hope to learn a lot and try to contribute as much as I can...
Welcome from IL! Been going to the Kyana Spring Swap Meet @ the fairgrounds for the last twelve years and have had a blast! Recently found out that my g.g.g. grandpa was born in Lousiville. Welcome to the board and best of luck! Rusty
Hey Moonshine, I grew up on the other side of the river, not far from where your picture was taken. A bunch of my family worked in the Colgate Plant. I spent a bunch of time out your way going to Ohio Valley Drag Strip in the early to late 70's eating those bar-b-que sandwiches and racing, then I got married and well you know the rest of the story. Anyway, welcome. The Rock
Thanks everybody!!! The bridge in my pic is actually the one between Madison,IN and Milton, KY. It does look ALOT like the Second Street bridge though....did you all know the second street bridge was used in the opening scene of Stripes...made a good subs***ute for NYC!
Mike I didnt know that about Stripes! My dad worked at Fort Knox, there was quite a bit of filming for the movie there! The avatar pic looks nice,I thought it was 2nd st bridge also. Bobby D
