Post a pic of the intake you are getting. Show the top side and the block side. I have an Edmunds Custom dual intake on the garage wall I can compare it to.

The first ones said Eddie Edmunds, the second version said Edmunds, then came Edmunds Custom. there are various styles of the lettering also on different intake manifolds.

I'll post this also and then attempt a tired and half drunk review on the differences

Well the obvious is the generator mounting boss. The other major item I notice is the location of the vacuum connection. Yours is in the side of the rear carb, whereas my intake has it centered between the carbs. As far as I know my Edmunds Custom was for a 59A style flatty. Is your for the 8BA style? ****, maybe it's vice versa...great then Bruce Bruce will show up, put someone in a headlock and then go dress like a woman. I have issues...
Let's see what else we can spy...

MBL: Eddie Edmunds started making flathead ford intakes in Portland Oregon in the mid, to late 1930's. I have one of his early water heated 2 carb hi-rise on my flatead. it was cast in portland around 1937-8. the lettering on the front of the intake i have looks to be hand carved with a small knife in the wood pattern. very crude to say the least. i wish someone would do a story on him, as i have found very little. as the story goes, he moved to so. calif. sometime in the 1940's. he made heads and intakes for about every car there was from what i have seen. i have yet to find out when he stopped making and selling stuff tho. anyone out there know??.

Yes just yesterday while I was at the Turkey Rod Run I got a chance to talk to Charlie Price proprieter of a company called Vintage Speed in Fla. He specializes in traditional induction systems for hot rod engines. He told me that he has purchased the Edmunds name and is beggining to reproduce some of the stuff (first the Edmunds air cleaners). Though I only spoke with him briefly, (he was very busy), he made it sound like there is a lot more to come.Give him a shout next week when he gets back to his shop and he can give you the skinny on all of it. Oh BTW search "Vintage Speed" and that will give the contact info.

Damn, so I won't be unique with my edmunds intake anymore [IMG]

Actually, mine is for my 47 59AB, I would think the ones for 8BAs would have a hole for the road draft tube?

today me and a buddy decided to go driving the back roads in the country looking for cars now that most of the leaves have fallen.

in our search we decided to cruise by a place that is lengendary for this old man who has collected cars over the past 40 plus years and never sold any of them. the old man and me get along and we talk cars everytime i see him.

well we drove by his house and he his lil truck was there,so we stopped, he is a great guy and will talk for hours and hours about old cars, but dont ask him to price anything [IMG]
anyways, while we were chatting and walking i saw one of many 39-40 ford coupes with the hood partially raised,i about **** all over myself. it had an edmunds 2 carb intake('edmunds' engraved between were the two carbs mount) with 97's topped with helmet style aircleaners ,edmunds finned aluminum heads(also"edmunds' engraved) all on top of a merc engine! this car (39 standard) had been sitting in the very same spot outside since the early 60's now just rusting away!

he also had quite a few T' & A's but the one that grabbed my attention was the 25(?) coupe with the banger and a "Fronty" head.

amazing, i must apologize in advance for no pics, but honestly im not so sure if he would have apreciated me taking pics,,im gonna stop buy again in the near future and if its cool with him ill take pics of all the amazing **** he has stored away in every nook and cranny of his farm.

Hey, you keep on his good side, and don't ask him about buying stuff, and eventually you'll be the only one he'll sell the stuff to!
