pic of short one is close to what l hope it to look like. the center post will be removed. next week the frame is going to get powdercoating instead of paint. l figure the powdercoat is a lot tougher and will last longer and it's about the same price. body work will start in feb or march. paint soon after.l will post more pics as progress one the car continoues. later
Cool project....so it will end up as a 2 door sedan? Fenderless I hope........I love those hiboy sedans. I have a 34 Plymouth I need to get going on......
l think youre right. l'll repphotshop that way, just rough layout for now. no fenders and the grille is a 1932 ford with a custom made hood. thanks for the input. later
I know the guy who built this '28 Dodge, similar to what your doing. It used to be a 4 door. http://www.streetrodderweb.com/features/0808sr_1928_dodge_victory_six/index.html
not a rat rod. it will have a home made in the garage paint job. body won't be award winning, but pretty nice. it will be a dark red on the bottom and a bright red on the top. the rearend and all the suspension/brake parts are brand new. new shell valley ch***is with a fatman style rack & pinion steering with I F S A arm set up. the frame was to be sold and the guy changed his mind. l know it is not the traditional straight axle but since l have it, might as well use it. 4 link rearend with panhard bar and 9'' ford with 3:90 gears. reason it's on other sites is some friends and family only go to certain sites so l post to try and keep them all happy. was a 4 dr someone started to cut up before l got it. hacked the crud outta the back doors and part of the roof. later
looks good. how many inches did he remove and what powers it? wow that ****er sits low. l am gonna keep the rear tire closer to the body. people seem to like the concept of shorting the 33 thanks to every one for the positive input. later
so if you leave some behind the door & the rear well, do have an idea what the wheel base would end up?
the frame l have has about 99'' wheelbase. with the four link l can move the rear about 1'' +or- with the hiem joint. can also raise the whole car up or down about 3'' by adjusting the coilover shocks. later
go to you-tube 28 dodge and pics of the 28 dodge 1928 Dodge build start to finish 4door to 2dr, it's great video,
a real nice guy photoshopped it with 4;'' added between the door and tire, then he removed the post. that is what l hope it looks like. want a hood, have to get the majorly cusomized because the grille shell l am using is a 1932 ford. l got the rear quarter panel windows and back window figured out today. l will silicon and screw the 1/4'' plexi-gl*** so it don't leak and have that awful whistling sound. the windshield is going to be custom cut and installed so it won't open. the stock one did open at the bottom, but it's way expensive for the stock parts. the door windows are flat so that's no problem. the power window pieces from the wrecking yards are cheaper than tryng to fix or restore the stock ones. so it will have power front windows. later
I did it by just ditchin the front door. It made the car too small, I think you could gain by moving the rear end back some ans using the front door.
the door is getting the inside is cut out so we can piece gap left when the body is shortend. after the body is welded, we will put custom door skins on the inside so door panels can be installed. thinking black tuck & roll on front door panels and on the sides in the back all the way to the back window. later
got the suspiension on the frame today and sat on the body to figure excatly where to cut it down to fit. later
