Central Florida Drag Night, Lakeland Drag Strip, Jan 23, 2010

A few of us that ran at the Billetproof drags are thinking of heading back to the Lakeland drag strip on Saturday evening, January 23. We've got around half a dozen or more cars showing up. Anyone else interested?

We're putting a turbocharger on the '55, the headders finally gave out on the way home from Daytona. If we get it finished by then, we'll be there!

I have to work that Saturday, but will bring the trailer to work and head that way when I get off.

Ok, fellas! The manager at Lakeland won't give me the time of day, or even return my phone calls. All that aside, Mike (4T64RD) and myself were at the PRI show last week, and we spoke with the manager of the new 1/8 mile track in Orlando, and they say that they will give us our own parking area, staging lanes, etc., and we could also run mini bikes, etc.

Lakeland is alot more convenient for me and a few others, but if they can't even take a minute to talk about all of us showing up, I say tuff ***ties, they don't need our money.

So would anyone be up for a change of venue?

 

Skip, I will not be able to make Orlando on that date as I will be working that day.
If everyone decides to change, let me know when the next one is and if I'm off, I'll be there.

Either track works for me, but I am closer to Orlando....

If I thought I could get to the track without getting nailed for my open headers, I'd bring the Bel Air....but the cops probably also want me to have a tag too.

 

I'm sorry if he has been sick, but I'd feel a little silly leaving him yet another voice mail at this point.

Hey Skip are you gonna do the same weekend? I still plan on spectating.

 

Spectate? Why not make a run or two in the old '61?

As far as the same weekend, yea I guess so, unless someone has a better idea?

Ok, well, due to the enormously underwhelming outpouring of interest, I am giving up on trying to organize this, and you can all sit and continue to whine about how nothing ever happens in Florida, .........whatever.

Anyway, on Jan 23rd, I will still pull the old '61 up to the new Orlando track, just to check out the place, and if anyone in our little Damnation circle wants to make a p*** or two in the old girl, come on, because the '61 Ford will be ebay'ed soon after.

 

Man, that ****s, but I can understand. I'll show up on the 23rd anyhow too. My car won't be ready for about a month after.

I plan on being there! I'm still waiting on parts from Gambino Customs to get my '50 back on the road.... and draggin' the rear bumper. Sounds like a great time! Thanks for all your efforts Skip!
