32 turned red today

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hotrob32, Jan 4, 2010.

  1. My son painted my 32 roadster today. We are happy. Keep it all in the family, my dad welded up the chassis. Progress is good.

Nice but what have you been doing drinking beer while the rest of the family gets their hands dirty.:p

  6. thanks, my kid has some talent. As for myself I am just putting it togeather. I bought it as a project last year as a fellow had been working on for about 7/8 years. About all he did was screw the chassis up. Had a Mustang 11 kit welded in and a corvette rear end with some huge brackts........after we cut all than off and started over.
We will also be doing the upholstery at home as well.

i was wondering how long it was going to take before someone commented on the wheels. i knew the wheel patrol was lerking around. just remember that it is YOUR CAR NOT THE HAMB'S CAR, so build it the way you want it.

looking good man. this is the exciting part of a car comming together. take alot of pictures. this will be the last time it will ever look that nice again. once it hits the road it goes down hill.

    congrats.

I agree with all the build it the way you want it comments, BUT...this is the hamb....as in Traditional Gospel...
There are other hot rod forums out there more appropriate than the hamb for this car....

    Good work on the paint.

  12. It has been a great winter project...hamb worthy or not.

I get lots of great ideas from this site and spend lots of time searching.
I am using a mini van folding seat, made a cool folding mount out of 2" exhaust tubing bent to the shape of the seat with some hinges. So the seat will fold flat and fold forward for some under seat storage. I don't have a top yet but hope to use a bop top. My body didnt have any mounts for a top so I am useing the flush kit from rodtops.

Its ok, my wife dosent like all my ideas either.....but she likes some

I think the whole wheel/tire bashing thing is hysterical. It's so over hyped. So what if he throws some red steelies and WWs on it suddenly it's HAMB worthy? Gimme a friggin break. I'd be willing to bet a chunk of money that if this car had some 'traditional' style wheels and tires on it, it would have gotten a lot more positive feedback and people would be kissing his butt. It's so shallow.

I agree modelacitizen... Guys get blasted just for showing their work! Wheels come in all shapes and sizes and I love them all... Who cares what size or finish they are? Nice ride. Good luck with everything.

Very nice looking ride. From the pics, the kid is doing good with the spray gun. Keep up the awesome work. Let the nay sayers be just that. You have nothing to be ashamed of...The wheels may not be "traditional" but ya know what...neither is the internet!!! If they don't like your wheels, maybe they should be "traditional" about it and stop by your place to tell ya so to your face!!!!

I think the 5 spoke wheels would have only been traditional if they cost 5 figures and were 40+ years old. LMAO

  22. It's okie dokie.....I'm still jazzed it finally turned Red. At the moment the wheels are not much of a concern.......less one go's flat.
Will finally have the body back on the frame this weekend. Time to clean up the garage, make a big area to start on the upholstery....I bought some light tan ultra leather on Egay....guy was selling it for $20 a yard shipped. I love a great deal. Goal is finished for under 20k, hope to do it.

What you mean no dusty, old, out of the attic Traditional indian pattern blanket thrown over the seat frame to try and satisfy the tradition cops?
