My dad actually comes in and hands me a "Motor's Auto Repair Manual" dated 1970 today. It's about 3 inches thick and had a crap-ton of information in it. I'm still going to get a servic manual, but my dad rocks.

  4. I like to go to swap meets and fondle parts for free.

  6. Add me to the list of "me too's" I used to do all my own work on an old sports car, then for the last 4 years i've done nothing work wise to one do to time, family commitments, and changes in cars driven....then 2 weeks ago I needed a battery in my car, and not willing to wait for the service guys to come do it, I swapped it out myself in 5 minutes. I think I totally got off on turning a wrench again. Needless to say when my Impala is paid off I'm going to enroll in welding school so I can start a project car next year. Just thought i'd share...

Now you know why I call the UPS man "Brown Santa".
Get yourself some basic tools and buy the rest as you need them. At Sam's Club for like $60.00 I got a 80 piece set of Channelock brand hand tools (SAE and Metric socket set with 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive ratchets) for carrying in my trunk and I end up using them more often than the old tools I have. For specialty stuff even after paying for tools it's cheaper than going to a mechanic and then you get to keep the tools.

the late neil bonnet (racer) was building a 34 2dr c-dan. he said his wife could not understand how the ups man could bring a box that was less than 1 square foot and it cost 3-400 hundred $$$$$$ she just didn't understand.

I was a bit late for work this morning because I saw the brown truck down the street and waited for it to come to my house. I saw the delivery girl carrying a package that looked like mine so I walked out to meet her and scared the heck out of her, but it was mine... the tool grinder I was waiting for since the one I got for Christmas had a bent shaft. I had to get it inside and try it out before I headed out.
