Hi my name is chris, and I bought a 54 chev Bel Air and am going to restore it, and of course modify it. I already have modified a 62 pontiac, but it was already in good shape, so I think its time for a real challenge! one question that has been nagging at my brain is , can you match up the original transmission with a SBC, call me crazy, but I like 3 in the tree,
hope to enjoy great conversations with other HAMB members on this topic and many others see you soon-Chris

Hi, Chris. You will need an aftermarket adapter to bolt a sbc to your '54 car transmission, but a three speed from a '48-'54 Chevy truck would have the correct bolt pattern for a sbc bell housing and would still bolt to the torque tube driveshaf in your car. Don't expect to beat on it very much, or your next thread will be en***led. "How do I replace my stock rear end with a newer, stronger one?".
