fixin' 36 Ford renders

I'm trying to fit up a patch panel for a 36 ford sedan rear fender and it's way off! It is supposed to fit a 35 to 40. Has anyone done this, and what mod's do you have to do make it fit.

 

Maybe "carbuilder" will chime in on this. He hand builds patch panels that fit. Sounds like you have the universal ones now and they are a challenge.

 

What part of the fender are you trying to patch? Do you have any pictures, so we can help with what you are doing?

 

Yes I build replacement panels that fit but they are not inexpensive like the universal 35 to 40 panels. Bottom line is you will need to cut the panel you have into sections and adapt it to fit your need's. There are several suttle changes each year between 35 & 40. Then the sedan fenders, phaeton fenders are different then the coupe, cabriolet & roadster fenders. The sedan delivery & station wagon have ther own also. If the company that supplied your panel which I believe is a member, may be they would explain what you need to do to make there panel work on your project.

 

Thanks for the input guys. These fenders are kind of rough, it's going to take some effort to save them. The patch is for the lower where it bolts to the running board. I figured that it might take some sectioning to make it look right. I'll work on getting some pic's of this car posted.

 

Here is a couple of pictures of my hand formed coupe, roadster & cabriolet fender's. No filler just metal finished & no they are not cheap you get what you pay for lots & lots & lots & lots of hrs to build.

Just to make it clear I had made several pairs of fenders before Ron came out with his Video. His video is very informational though.

EMS makes a patch panel for the bottom 8" of 36 Ford fenders where they attach to the running boards. This might be what your looking for.

 

Maybe this is the panel that he is trying to fit.

 

Just make sure you get your panels before you pay him I have been waiting 4 years for my refund from carbuilder a.ka. creative billet inc. a.k.a. danny pascoe he never did a thing for me but take my money.

I have a 40, and a 36. and can confirm that they couldnt possibly use the same patch panel as the 36 rear fender is smaller where the fender bolts to the running board..
I've made it a practice to find other JUNK fenders for patches. unfortunately I don't have any more 36 fenders now..

as for Mr Pascoe ...the voice of one unhappy customer overshadows all the happy ones. Sure hope you take care of whatever situation BW is discussing

 

BW's not alone took a bunch of my money as well carefull when dealing with him .

 

Novel thought here, he, Danny, is at almost every Swap Meet in your area, has a booth, especially Monroe coming up, deal with him in person.............

 

Before this disapears...I have the EMS lower fender patch on my drivers side where is bolts to thr running board.

Needed some work, but overall did the job fine.
