Hi guys, I have a 1949 and a 1952 F1 Ford truck. I don't get to keep the trucks but I can take anything I want off of them. The owner wants the carc*** back for s****. The 52 has a 8cm flathead that I need for my 50 Merc. What else is worth saving? I was thinking the columns and the boxes, trans cross member, cab, radiator. What about the front axle? Any other good hot rod parts? The 52 also has reversed rims that I will keep.
Keep the pedals, trans, any good dash parts, any good body parts, the gl***, the roof if good, front brakes/ axle ***y, tailgate and parts for it, emblems, underdash heaters, seats, Why can't you keep the carc***es? Lots of people looking for all sorts of parts for those. Once you pick them down, they'd only be worth about $100 ea. Probably worth less that $200 s**** each as they sit.
SHOCK MOUNTS!!! Nostalgia Sid will buy the front axles for cores if not badly pitted. and check for defrost ducts, they are worth a little as well.
The guys has had them for 20-30 years. He knows s**** will rise again. He is just being nice to me. He said anything I sell I need to split with him. I was just looking for the engine and anything that I can use on the 50 Mercury but since they are at my shop I can easily tear them down. I need to clean up the clutter outside the shop. Parts are fine, whole vehicles are bad.
So why not sell one for more than s**** and split the money with him? Just based on the good parts in one you should be able to get $750, they don't look in bad shape... s****'s never going to be so high that they're going to be worth $350 with the drivetrains and all the key goodies removed. Well, or if it is that high, a gallon of gas will be $25, so it all comes out in the wash.
I'd be surprised if metal went up anytime soon, if ever like it was last year. The metal markets took a big hit yesterday, and my crusher guy won't even come out. Its not worth it for him. All the s**** joints are just sitting on inventory. The Chinese are buying whole mining operations in South America instead of buying our used steel. West coast typically gets more than your area due to proximity to the ports. He is smokin something if he is betting on s****. You will sell $1500-2000 miminum off those trucks if they are complete as they sit. You just have a bit of work in front of you.
Just to give an idea, we had no trouble selling a 6-cyl F2 with the 49-50 grille for $1500 over the winter. Motor ran but the body was in about the same shape as the grey truck. I'd think you could part that one out and sell the other whole and do pretty well.
Doors, glove box door, ashtray any dash parts. pedal ***emblies. Really anything that unbolts, but that's just me. I still have pieces from my first F-1 I got in 1961.
if you are going to part out a car/truck you leave nothing behind that someone could use. I'm amazed at the oddball parts that wil sell on ebay. I've parted 3 cars and threw nothing away without trying to sell it first. I did end up cutting up both a 53 and 51 Chevy bare frame... but not for lack of trying to get rid of them.. even offered them up for free here. I bet there wasn't $50.00 worth of s**** to toss out by the time I was done with all 3.
pedals & Crossmember, column, glovebox doors have the VIN tag inside, any and all sheetmetal that's salvagable, no steel body parts for 49-52 (xcept smooth boards), wheels are 5 1/2 in. bolt pattern, steel cover over ******........
With a little tweaking they are the Traditional front shock/headlight mounts for an early model Hot Rod
We Model A guys can use them with a little tweaking to mount tube shocks on the front end. For the traditional model A hot rod guy we can use the brake ***emblies(backing plates, wheel cylinder, shoes, drums) Pedal ***emblies and cross members as well. And yes I need all that stuff.
Why do people find this stuff on Google and never look at the date when they bump it back up? I mean this is only from June, he might still have parts, but I've had stuff I've posted that was -years- old come back to haunt me long after I sold whatever it was I posted. Then again, 9 out of 10 regulars don't look at the date or even read the entire thread either.
Save rear shocks the ends that go to rear front ones are popular for roadsters Steering column's and box Strip everything you can Its all worth something .
send me your phone ,I need some parts .original rims, rear bumper with brackets, right side door gl***,thats just a few.
You can use two p***enger side spindles to make one set that will fit 28-48 Ford axles. You can mount a set of F1 brakes to the spindles without the bearing kit that Speedway sells. These spindles use 46-48 Ford kingpin sets. You will have to cut the steering arms off and use aftermarket.
