I'm using one and I don't have any negative issues to report. Although make sure that the the housing is well grounded. Here's a pic of mine installed.

    What is the cost?

  3. Speedway sells them for around $600.00. I had one on my last Model A and it worked great. No issues at all.

You can run the real thing for less than the "fake" costs. I have run a real mag in my car for a while now and man it runs great. If you want one for the street it is a good idea to make sure it has an advance in it. I buy mine from e-bay or swap meets. Real easy test to make sure they spark- have your buddy hold a plug wire whiel you turn the drive gear. If he jumps out of his shorts and wets his pants it's still really strong, jumping and no wetting you should probably send it in to be re-charged.

Same here. I got a vertex OXC in factory rebuilt condition (like new) for less money than a fake one. (yeah, Ebay) The original mags are plenty reliable... I don't see why an HEI version would be better...?

  7. Radio  ????? Run the real deal. Ya' can't hear the radio anyway. The whine of the Quick Change gears makes the radio useless  .

I removed the one I have. Modules went to hell continuously, then a coil. Went to a MSD ready to run which was a huge improvement. Cool looking but not worth the money. I had to spec my own mechanical advance springs from a spring supplier to get a usable advance curve. My 2 cents.

  11. Check out "trackrodster" here on the HAMB. Charlie has a LOT of info on this type of setup.

I have one that a buddy gave me after he had a lot of trouble with it. When he first installed it, I got the car running but after a few weeks of garage time he said it wouldn't start. Another friend went and got it running again but he had more trouble and never did get the car on the road with the Taylor Vertex distributer in it. I calle Taylor and talked to a woman there who said they were having a lot of trouble with them and were working on a fix. Haven't called her back yet but I would like to run this thing. Can you tell me what size of Ballast resistor you're running and anything else I should know about setting it up. Since it was a freebee I didn't get any paper work with it and it was a couple of years ago when we fired the car up with it.
