I've sold a lot of stuff in the states and have only been burned once (see my Joseph Grey thread on here for more details), but I haven't done much overseas. I've got a guy that wants to buy an intake manifold from me who lives in Holland. He wants it sent to Buffalo, Texas to a shipping company owned by Dutch folks that ship a bunch of stuff to Holland. He wants to wire me the money and is asking for a "SWIFT" number. I'm not giving him my bank account number, but does this sound legitimate to anyone? Is there a "safe" way to get paid from someone in Europe? If the guy is legit I'd like to deal with him, but if there isn't a fail-safe way of getting the money I'm not going to deal with it. Any suggestions or opinions would be great. Thanks.

A Swift number is for international money transfers.

If you dont want to give him your Bank Info, maybe there is an other way he could get the money to you...

    Talking about buying parts overseas...

I tried to order some race car parts from a British firm last night ( night for me, because of the time difference ).

" No sir, we can not ship any parts to the States because of litigation..."

He would ship to a UK address, but that would be more expensive and a lot more hassle.

Screw him, I went to his competitor and the stuff is ( hopefully ) on its way...

  3. I bought several parts from the US and mostly paid with Paypal and was screwed only once.
Also paid with Western Union, i know not safe but it worked for me.

The thread below was just on the board and discusses this in great length!

Thanks. I was lazy and didn't search for this subject before I posted. It looks like I shouldn't have too much to worry about. That thread mentioned above REALLY explains the options.

Everything went through great. I opened another account that I keep $25 in and the deal went smooth. It did cost $10 for the wire transfer and it took a couple days to post, but it was secure and easy.

I'm still waiting for my parts.

First my Credit Card account got locked because of the overseas charge, so once I had that unlocked my payment could go through.

And then I got a call from the Shipping company, telling me the shipment was delayed.

Good thing they called, it turned out somebody had changed the address from Vail, Az to Vail, Co.

    Hopefully any day now....
