1948 Chevy Deck Lid Question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by FatFenderBowTie, Dec 5, 2009.

  1. I am trying to find a replacement deck lid for my 1948 Chevy Sport Sedan 4 door, would anyone know if any of the other models of 1948 Chevy deck lids are interchangeable?

    Thanks for any information!

chevy parts book says 1942-48 1011, 1019, 1211, 1219 use the same trunk lid, it's part number 4149870 and cost $40.05 from your local Chevy dealer in 1959.

I have a 48 Town Sedan and a parts car 46 sport sedan. The trunk lids appear identical between those two. I know the aerosedan and coupe trunks are different form your sedan and different from eachother.

Nice chart, where did you get it?

  5. Great thank you, just the information I needed...I guess I will get on ordering one ASAP, wonder if they will honor the 1959 price?!!?

  6. I have my 4 door and fleetline sitting side by side, knew they weren't a match, but hoped some of the others were...the chart attached showed the 2 mentioned in the other post looked similar, but hard to tell for sure.

  7. Found it online a couple years ago, was actually a link to almost a complete 47 - 49 handbook, but before I could upload the whole thing, the link went dead.

I need to find me one of those Chevy parts book for 1942-48 I guess!

Do you have a lid now? That maybe needs to be repaired?

  10. The lid on it now weighs a tonne, previous owner liked bondo more than body work when he attempted to shave it.

The inside has rusted over the years, and they brazed all the holes when filling. For the cost of one used to start with a clean slate would be less than the headaches I think it will be to try to fix the existing one.

  11. Got a deck lid from Bob "Flat-Top Bob" from Owens Salvage Co. in Wellington TX which he said was in ok shape, could scuff and paint it and use it as is on my car!

He had it delivered so I could pick it up on my travel route rather than having to go out of my way to get it!

Great guy to deal with, and will ask him from now on for parts!

I might want to place a "Wanted" ad in the Cl***ifieds section for what you are looking for.

You should read this first: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44274

    And do an introduction.
