Is that one of those eastern reproes? What's up with the top? Other than the odd body lines, it look nice.

Roof just doesn't look right. Cool car otherwise

  9. It has a repro roof on it think. I saw this car on here earlier with pictures of what he started with. If you saw what he started with youd be amazed at what he did with it.

Yeah. Weren't the first reproes (before Brookville) made kind of piecemeal in Conneticut? Something to do with the guy from Total Performance maybe?

I think thats why I like it. Three window coupes are such high dollar cars that they are always perfectly chopped. If you look at old photos there were some pretty ****py chop jobs out there. It looks like a car that was quickly chopped and leaned back to go faster at the dry lakes without necessarily taking proportions into account. BTW lets see the before pictures! Johnny

Oh whoops...It wasn't meant that way...I dunno...sometimes imperfection is more true to traditional cars. I wasn't trying to say its a "****py chop" as there have been certainly more shoddily chopped cars in the past. Anyway...its a cool car...no offense intended. Johnny

  14. Tops of the quarters look strange to me, there must be something up with this... I'm guessing it is not an original. Hopefully I'm not offending, please tell? Interesting...

I think it looks awesome. Love the lakes look. My favorite. More pics. Looks like the same color I'm gonna paint my lakes modified.

You, sir are absolutely correct. In the '40s and '50s a 3 Window body was not a big investment. The chop was mostly to go fast, e.g. more functional than aethetic, so many chops were less than perfect. Looking at survivors today (even the Doyle Gammel coupe), one could easily be critical of the chops because they often don't measure up to the aesthetic standards set by the Rolling Bones. IMO.

I like it. I think I'd need to lie down to drive it though.

Man... definitely some interesting opinions floating around this thread.

I'd like to see some before pictures of the car this thread is about. Sounds like it was a lot of work.

  25. I could just be a bad angle on the quarter I see? It didn't look tall enough from the bead up.
I can't wait to see better pics... It is cool. I agree roof has that lakes chop I dig too.

In this pic, see how much room is above the bead? On the grey one it looks like it dissappears, maybe it is just the photo. Excited to hear more...

This is an original car--I've seen pictures of what he started with. Rough doesn't describe what he had. My hats off to him for what he accomplised with not much to start with. I furnished some of the trim parts for the '39 dash thats installed. Good luck with the car, you can be proud.

I like it better than the Tiki truck Bob. You wanna race? You better not drive that thing like Miss Daisy.

Cool Bob wtf I didn't know you were this far along. It seems like just a couple of months ago we were ****ing with that damn torq tube.;)

YES THIS IS REAL STEEL 3W COUPE,just that it was in a million pieces at one time and looked like wadded up foil . Factory body lines, no. But it has SOUL for sure. Good job " Tiki Bob". Haa sorry couldn't resist.
