Hello everybody, I am having a problem w my 235. I pulled it and rebuilt it, got it back in the car and can get it to start but it wont idle, I have a new gas tank, fuel lines, and a rebuilt pump, and carb and they were in before I pulled the motor, and I was driving it daily so I cant figure out why they would fail out of nowhere, but I can hand prime the pump and get fuel to the carb but it seems like the carb wont **** the fuel in. I have a filter right in front of the carb and I can see gas going to it, but it doesnt look like I am getting it to the carb, the vacuum line was kinked so I took it off and capped it at the carb, could this be it? Any help would be tremendous
CHRIS...it's allmost imposible for anyone to help without being there. doe's the engine shake, doe's it run smooth when runing at higher speed. so get back with more info...POP.
i agree with crestliner. check for va*** leaks. carb base gasket?,intake manifold, any other vacuum lines. more info would help.
Well I cant get it to idle except for pouring gas in the carb, so I cant get it up to higher rpms. is there another way to check for vacuum leaks other than disconnecting the line?
check to see if needle and seat are free of obstructions. something may have gotten knocked loose during rebuild.
hotrod-linkin is right abought that. whats the first thing we do, take the carb off and turn it upside down upsetting all the junk in the bottom of the bowl. might have to be careful and dis***emble and clean then give it a try.
rebuild your carb, likley thats the problem, it's cheap and you'll have a fresh carb on your fresh engine, if it's the factory carb just take loose the four screws on top raise the top up and see if your getting fuel, takes five seconds, but rebuild the carb and you'll probably be fine, carbs are one of those parts that can work perfect before you take it off, few weeks later, won't work
