I was hoping you or maybe some of your members might know any possible history on my car. I cannot find a contact number for the previous owner of my car for any information. Its a 55 Chevy 2 Dr. Sedan. I bought the car in 86 from a guy in Mentor On The Lake. At that time, he told me the car was from Perry, Ohio. So my guess is that it was probably raced at Thompson. I found traces of Silver paint and Orange paint on the car when stripping it. It had Green Plexi-Gl*** Quarter Windows in it, a fibergl*** lift off hood, and the fibergl*** fenders tilted forward (bolted to the core support on door hinges). Looks like it might have had new quarter panels put on so they could have been radius at one time. Firewall is cut out, along with a bottom portion of the dash. Interior has a 3 point roll cage with a small fan attached to it. Steel homemade mini tubs in rear. Late 30s to early - mid 40s Ford tube front axle. Pontiac/Olds rear end with 6:17 gears and homemade rectangular steel Ladder Bars welded to the axle tubes. I have left just about everything the way I bought it with exception of some bodywork, new floor and trunk pans, and a Vega steering box to tighten up the front.
Take it back to Thompson the first weekend in June.. There a g***er deal going on at the track.. someone will remeber the car. rick
Welcome from the West Coast of Florida. Love the car but I am not sure about that fan with no guard on it being right next to the driver!!!!!!! Cool project.
