2x2barrel to 4 barell intake recomendation

I've got a 66 289 with a Holley 4 barrel intake. My question is I've been looking at the speedway 2x2's to a 4 adapter. Anybody else have this set up if so I know this is opinion based, should i go with the demon98's or the 9 super7's? Motor wise its not a very "Hot" motor and i don't want to over carb it.

 

vintage speed in miami its cheap and made very good ..i got one custom made from them with 2 inch spacers and made for 2 rodchester ones to a 4 barrel looks perfect

Lozodz, I hate to ask but I'm going to anyways what did that set you back? I can find/get ahold of the 4 bolt Rochester's a lot easier around here and save some $ for other prodjects that need to be done

Right now I've just got a plane Jane Holley 4-barrel intake with a 600 cfm carb. I can get the 4 bolt Rodchesters easier arround where I'm at that the 3 bolt carbs. I'm just curious what the adaper plate you have cost you.

 

Why don't you just use a 4bbl carb? If it's for looks, I don't think 2x2's cobbled on with an adaptor is any more aesthetically pleasing than a nice 4bbl and it sure as shit won't run any better...

 

Unless you are doing this strictly for the "look", it's a total waste of time and money from a performance point of view. Any well tuned 4 barrel will perform better in any type of driving than two 2 bbls on a 4 bbl manifold. To each his own......

 

ok i think i paid like 120 for the base plate that excepts 2 adapters so you can go from 1- 4 to 2- 2,s if you call the company like i did you can explain to them what you are trying to do and im shure they can help .when they made mine they had to re drill the flanges to except the rodchester single barrel carbs ..after i put it together it worked great ..

the only reason i used this set up was so i could use 2 carbs with single barrel as oppsed to 2 carbs 2 barrel and it looks good ..

 

Yeah Its just for looks don't really care about the performance aspect. I built the truck to mainly cruze in. It only weighs 1800lbs with me in it so it doesn't need a ton of power to make it fun

even though its for looks it will work i took the manifold off the car and its on the shelf waiting for another engine ..i needed the motor for my gasser ..but i will reuse it on my small block ford when i rebuild it ...

 

eventually I'm gonna rebuild what I got and make it hotter. then i would like to find a 2-4 barrel set up for it . but that's going to be a bit. want to get the body in a little better shape first. but it don't pay to work on your own..

that pick up is sweet as hell ...yea 2 small carbs would look cool as shit...

 

do you know if so-cal still makes those finned velocity stacks? I havn't seen them advertised in a while. That's the look i had in mind.

i guess i had paid more cause i also orderd the spacers for the carbs also ..

 

If you're interested, I have a Vintage Speed adapter that I'll sell you for $75.00 plus shipping. It takes 3 bolt carbs though. Never been used. I was going to use it on the same application as you, but I sold the car.
