It's also Luther Perkins' birthday as well. Johnny Cash's lead guitar. He was a legend with an iconic sound that could not be matched! The song "Luther Play the Boogie" was written because of his playing style.
Rest in peace, Elvis. Who would've ever guessed that Jerry Lee Lewis would outlive him and Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash?
I can't believe FuzzyFipples beat me to the Peanut ****er & Banana sandwich post by just a couple minutes. I'll be makin' mine in 58 minutes.

Watching a Turner cl***ic telethon of Elvis movies as we speak. I have to, they shut Georgia down because of snow.
Say what you will...the guy left his mark. Well....I've got this friend who fancies himself an Elvis impersonator. Maybe he's left more of a stain in this case. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yNn41AvmEng&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yNn41AvmEng&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I was 6 when he died. I never had interest until my band did a cover of "Love Me". It was my Dad's music. Now I like it, the early stuff is best. I turn it up and sing along....those first few years of rock'n'roll were great, weren't they?
My mom called me crying the day he died. I was into AC/DC at that time. here's a few screenshots with Elvis at the wheel Loving You Corvette XP-87 in Clambake Viva Las Vegas Jailhouse Rock Blue Hawaii Roustabout

Here are some driving shots. (I just posted it on the Friday Art thread, but it really belongs here. Sorry for the double posts guys!) Cheers to the king! Jeffrey
QUOTE=THE_DUDE "It's like an estate sale with nothing for sale and some dead people in the backyard by the pool". I nearly gasped when I read this! Haha...that's just freakin' funny! BTW. My black-velvet-Elvis is up all year 'round. Listen to Bill Garder's show 'Rhapsody in Black' tonight on 90.7 FM - KPFK (8:00 to 10:00 pm So. Cal. time)...should be a good tribute-type show. Maybe all the original black R&B artists that Elvis covered or something? Big Momma Thornton...etc. The shows are archived for a week on line.
I really wanted to be there today but this F-ing yankee snow here in Ohio has been awful. I probably coulda made it today but that close call with the big rig yesterday put the fear of god in me. and I have a velvet elvis straight from Tijuana up year long too
I guess I'll chime in.....happy B-day. Rolling up to a halloween party a few months ago..... Elvis' mexican cousin. I had to get really drunk to get in the "mood"
