I WAS NOT SURE AS IMPLIED. I'm not familiar with recent year models but it was worth a look at I thought.

If you want "points" you got them. If you wanted to be helpful to this thread...why not state there is no such thing instead of calling me out???

There WERE aluminum 360 heads produced for RT engines after the engines were labeled and/or branded magnum....Will these interchange or was that what you were getting at?

On a budget and need to redo your SBC (small block Mopar LA motor) heads?

As far as stock Mopar LA heads, the late 302 castings (hardened seats, heart shaped chambers, small but decent ports) from around 1987 up are probably best for a 318. If you're dealing with a 340 or 360, the best bang for the buck are the 308 castings found on 360s in Dodge pickups (and possibly vans) '88-'89 to '91 or '92. Exhaust flow is reputed to be as good as the much vaunted W-2s and the intakes are said to be better than 340 X or J heads. Just remember when you go junkyarding that not all pickups in these years used the 308 casts and you MUST verify the casting numbers on the actual heads you're looking at.

That said, if you need to bring any head up to spec with new valves, guides, seals, and possible seats, decking, a better bang for the buck might be to go to Hughes Engine, or one of the other Mopar engine builder/suppliers, and spring for a set of the Australian cast Iron Ram or the new Indy LA X heads. Ten years ago I spent just under 800 bucks bringing my stock '73 340 heads (the same 1.88 intake valve head as early 360s) back to usable condition. From the ads I've read recently, 800 to 1200 smackers will buy a set of these aftermarket heads that bolt right on, flow far better, and put out more power than ANY stock head (OEM). More so, the Magnum replacement Iron Rams do not have a cracking problem, unlike the stockers.

Good MoPar iron heads are relatively cheap these days. Fresh 587's are six hundred bucks a pair. Others start about Five. Try Aerohead they have a good selection.

My experience is, not running big compression and having a relatively mild motor, heat hasn't been an issue. I run a somewhat stout 360 (+0.060) with the original 22" rad that came in our '63 with no trouble. My '68 has a strong 340 with high compression... it's a struggle to keep it cool. A 26" rad is a must in that case.

Having said that, one of my usual parts guys in Upstate NY is selling new aluminum rads for ~$170. For that price, I am done with stock rads. From here on out if aesthetics aren't an issue, I am going aluminum.

Okaaaay...don't need your 'points'....and wasn't 'calling you out'...

There is so much misinformation and conjecture posted daily, not just here but on virtually forum, that I think checking before posting is ultimately the most helpful to the OP.
You said 'stock'. Stock to me indicates oem production. Yes, there are aftermarket aluminum heads, but you will not find these at the local pick-n-pull. Even on your second post when you apparently found the aftermarket heads you didn't bother to post a link: http://www.mopartsracing.com/parts/a.html

Is this helpful enough for you?
