The car Chad "Blue-Bear" is building is NOT the car that was at Louisville NSRA Nats. The car in competition to Boyd's T was "Mikes" Pickup.

So it may be safe to say that Blue-Bear Got his ASS fired!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was wondering that. I read a post on here by Jimmy White and there was a pic of Blue Bear working there at Circle City Hot Rods.. Man I hope thats not true his attitude is very poor.., but maybe I only see what TV lets me see.

Boyd does not need a show on Discovery for people to know that he is a dick. Most people already know.

....if anyone met him they would absolutely be saying this. [IMG] My experience goes back about 10 years....
This really is a case of surround yourself with talented people. The drama sucks!!

yeah I just realized that the Rod and Custom article had nothing to do with blue bears car. Odd. I wonder if BB really did get canned?

I missed the show, I was working on a 59 retractable though, so it was probably worth it

What happened when Duane knocked a motor of its stand? Intentionally?

Charlie is for sure gone? Does he get to leave with a big, dramatic ending too?

and as far as Boyd paying for BBs car, I am wondering if it is going to actually BE BB's car for him to keep? I thought that he was just building his version of a car, but boyd gets the finished car to do as he pleases with.

Also, what happened with Duane and BB? There was a fight? When is the show gonna be on next?

Besides behaving like a 3-year-old, Dwayne can't plan his purchasing or expedite his suppliers for shit. That costs money. I haven't seen him do shit on a car yet, just make excuses as to why he didn't get something done in time to support Boyd's schedule. I guess I'm critical because I do that for a living and judge him on a professional level.

Blue Bear is a twelve year old in a man's body. My image of Boyd is him on that stupid electric scooter. I can't get over that one. He saw the contract $$$$ with Discovery and IMHO, flushed his reputation down the shitter.

But I watch just the same. I watch the stupid drama, probably because I like to see people make fools of themselves. I don't know why.

Like the show or hate it, shows (and other like this one) are probably good for people like us. For example, with so many people buying quickie Maaco rods, I can sell the parts in my shed for waaaay more than they are worth. Also, new repro parts are starting to be made in larger quantities and varieties than ever. I'm not talking about the billet/chrome/polished bolt on stuff, but cowl sections, door bottoms, etc.

    Just my $.02
I've been wrong before, and I'll be wrong again...

Blue Bear's coupe has a lot going for it.
    1:Flatty
    2:36 bones for the rear
    3:traditional front end
4:no new out of era parts

The kid has his era nailed from what I've seen so far. Too bad he's such a punk.
BUT, Boyd's right about boxing that 70 plus year old cracked frame for the 600 lb engine and the hotrod driving the car's destined for. He also has a point about how BlueBear needs to think about comfort over long distance and reliability/safety on the road. Remember this is supposed to be a long distance freeway car, not a Friday night cruiser. It's old school all the way so far, right out of the 1955 little pages.

Bluebear is only 20 and he's at the age where he knows more than anyone else and you can't tell him shit. Unfortunatly Boyd is acting about the same age. I'm guessing his fight with Boyd over this car is going to humble him some and maybe cost him his job. However, in about 5 years he'll probably come back and be building great old school cars.

On the other hand, I agree with Bluebear and the younger guys about Boyd's effort. It's just another street rod and doesn't follow a theme. At the halfway point, I can't visualize just what that car is supposed to be or where it's comming from. It'll probably ride great, but I wouldn't buy it. Bluebear's has roots and soul but needs help, Boyd's is like a woman with 3 boobs, sometimes more isn't better. I just can't see where that car fits in.

And I promised myself I wouldn't pick others cars apart anymore too...

Sad thing to me on that show is watching Charlie burn out over all the silly crap and the deadlines. When he finally has enough, I hope he comes back to Idaho. We can always use another GOOD painter. If I had the money, I'd let him do all my stuff. And I'd tell him to take his time doing it too...

I watched the show for the first time, just to see a traditional rod. By that I mean Blue Bong's. He'll grow up one day, and be a hell of a lot cooler than that Dwayne douchebag.

I'll watch the next episode, 'cause t.v. is like crack and they got me hooked in with the buildup. That poor T coupe got gang raped with an ugly stick, though. "Gremlin" quarter window, LMAO.

I originally thought Blue Berry was a total dipshit. Now I think he's just a stoner with a sense of humor. And if I had a shop manager like Dwayne, I'd have my shit packed up and out the door before I did something stupid and gave him a torque wrench upside the head.

Exactly, I'd guess that at lot of us where just like that at that age, I know I was. And I loved to pull "stupid" pranks to get a laugh too. I kinda wish I was that age again, *sigh*.

Its TV, so I don't believe any of the drama that goes on. Just like that OCC crap. What kid would work under your dad screaming and hollering all day like Paul SR does. Its just for the camera on both shows, "Paulie" even told one of my buddies so at a chopper show. Boyd, on the other hand, for whatever he is or ain't has lost more money than I'll ever make. And he gets people to pay him BIG bucks to build cars, so he's gotta be doing something right. He's never going to build a car that will 100% apeal to everyone on here. We're not his market. Its the wealthy folks who like pretty cars that are different than the other guys cars at the social events. Whatever.

If nothing else it motivates me to head to the shop to work on my roadster after the "show" is over.

Overhaulin is okay, I think Chip is one talented dude, but you guys can have the chick.....She grates on my nerves..If she's there for eye candy they couldve done alot better.

You're right, there is no excuse for him to act like that at work, but if they let him, AND do it right back, I guess he'll never learn better.

But I haven't watched that show in months, what the hell do I know?

My take? Boyd is broke again, TV comes calling, he takes a ton of money and finally sees a retirement plan in the cards. Ditch the ugly x-wife, move to an island with the plastic bimbo (kinda like his cars???), and retire.
He could give 2 shits about his reputation, he will be gone after his 15 minutes of fame are up. He's old, don't let the died beard fool you.
The shop guys act like assholes for the producers, Boyd lets it happen cuz he is not in control of the shop anymore..the TV guys are.
Its obvious he is building cars for old customers that don't care about the gallons of mud that are in those heaps. The nice shit is all done by Marcel's and those go to prior customers that like to brag that they have a "TV car" build by Boyd. He is obviously not attracting any new ones.
All the new rich guys are going to Moal or Brizio or Foose to have the real sweet stuff built by real craftsmen. You don't see any celebs kissing Boyds ass after their car is done cuz he can't attract those types. Its Moal, Bizio, and Foose that get the high end jobs and the props. They don't want to be associated with that hacker like Boyd.
Moral? TV money can buy anybody thats desperate to sell out for some quick cash and be manipulated.
Like the sign in my shop says "If you want hot rod drama, watch TV, if you a quality hot rod, see us" Rodfather Customs. Done
