p.s. post pics if ya got them!!!

  2. Dodge built a Crew Cab from 1963 to 1971 in the Sweptline series.

Ford had a factory-built rig from (I believe) 1965 - on up. Earlier trucks were custom-built by contracted shops, then sent to dealers or end-users, such as railroads and utilities.

International had a three-door Crew from 1957 to 1960, then a four-door Crew from 1960 to the end of IH pickup production in the late '70s.

Chevrolet/GMC had Crew Cab trucks in the mid-'60s (1963 to 1966), but these were built by outside contractors like the Fords. Their first factory Crew Cab pickup came out in 1973.

Note, the Crew Cabs that were sold to the military, were referred to by the military as "six-pax" or "six-pac" trucks, which means "six-passenger", in case some of you were not aware. So, if you ever hear of a four-door truck being referred to as such, it does NOT mean it has a Mopar "Six-Pak" or three two-barrels!!!

  3. Any crew cab trucks older than those mentioned above were custom builds, almost without exception, if you do a search there are a number of threads already posted with information and photos in them.

  5. COS, you talking bout my truck? It aint no Ford:D Its a MERC! And it aint bagged:D those are for groceries:)

I have a couple of em and an extracab too. My red truck is a Mercury/ Ford factory built one, my other crew is a Crown Corp built one (mid pre-'65) and my extracab is a Crown too.
I still find these crews from time to time. I'll try to letcha know if I find one in your area. We just got a Fargo Crew and I'll be clipping and diffing it soon for a fellow club member, it'll be a twin to my Merc and they'll both be getting shiny paint soon too.

Is the guy a HAMB'r or does he have a web site? I'd like to ask him some questions about that 8-lug Chevy.

If he isn't on here please feel free to pass my contact info from below to him.

I don't know if he's a HAMB'r. No web site. PM me for his number. He does like to talk. lol. He's also been working on a COE crew cab for a big hauler that's pretty cool too. That 8 lug Chevy is a one ton he uses for hauling.

He's really big into Studebakers trucks too. Got Several of them.

I thought it might be as i have heard of some of the early Dodge (40's) being called Fargo's..

  25. Boones: Your woody version is a rare one, indeed. Any idea how many were produced?

What are your plans for it? How much of the wood is salvageable?

Just dug out this '64 GMC crew cab not too far from my place. I'm frickin addicted to crew cabs now! Not sure what my plans are for it yet but will for sure get updated brakes and steering. I'll keep you guys posted....
