my little car i already mentioned has a joke of a back seat, basically small kids or sit sideways with your knees in your face, but i moved the seat mounting frame back anyway, just no one sits behind me is all. rear floor pans are taken up by the vacuum bottle and the battery box, how often does anyone ride in the back anyway?

I have a '55 Buick Roadmaster that I bet Hoss Cartright could wear his hat in,
forget about the little cars, you'll never fit
get a big car, if you want a late twenties to early thirties roadster
look at Cadillacs, Packards, Auburns.. you know, big cars

foucus on the thrill of the ride, you'll fit. take out those nice soft seats- make an
airplane bomber seat out of a 55gal drum. quarter cut it- you will have a seat and back.use 1/2" round cond. on edges. drill fart holes- just a thin leather cover. real
cool . I'm an old runt-6.2" 195. aches an pain. I drive several rdsters. every day as much as I can. in one you sit on the floor. the joy over rides what ever discomfort comes you way

the best thing to do is do what i did . go to shows or swapmeets and ask if you can sit in the car . it will surprice you as it did me as to how many will say ,sure . i am also 6' 5" and wiegh 328 , 44 inch waist but i only have an 11 shoe . i ask a man at the new braunfels tx swapmeet to sit in his chopped and channeled model a coupe because i have a model a coupe and i was'nt sure if i would fit or not . to my and my brother's surprice , i fit and it was'nt that bad . some friends almost had me convinced to sell my coupe until i sat in that one . the body that i have isn't chopped so i think it will be fine .

  7. I'm 6'8" and 275lbs and was faced with this same problem. I really wanted a traditional 27-32 car but after going to shows, talking, sitting and looking at cars I decided that as much as I wanted one of these cars it just was not going to be "comfortable" for me to drive one.

I wanted a car I can get in, be comfortable and drive a 1000 miles. So since I'm a mopar man I've decided to go with a 46-48 Desoto. Will get a 50's style custom treatment and I'll be able to cruise in comfort and style.

I'm 6'3" 250 size 12 and don't have any problem with my 32 Sedan in spite of the low ceiling. It has Cerrulo seats with the rails on the floor. Pedals take some concentration.

I'm 6'2" and about 230. My 29 Sedan in the avatar is chopped 6 1/2 inches. The floor is channeled to the bottom of the frame, the big- block drivetrain rides low. The shifter is up on the column. Those of you that came over at Cobo last year know 6-6 got in the car easy and comfortable - but no back seat.

I agree with the "twofosho"'s lines, and I'd like to add to it

    1. Not only drop the seat back, but kick the front of the seat up 2" higher than the back.
    2. Make sure the BENCH seat you use is opened to 105 degree angle - 90 degrees is not very comfortable - and most OEM bench seats are 105-110 back.
    3. Make the seat adjustable.
    4. To measure the seat, buy the bench, take the legs off, set it on the floor, kick a 2" square of tube or block under the front edge, sit in it in a comfortable position. Then measure from the face of the back of the seat to your heel (when it's comfortable on a "gas pedal"). That will tell you where the back of the seat should be CENTERED in relation to the gas pedal. Set your adjusters at the middle adjustment. Attach them to the bottom of the seat, then to your riser or floor mount.

You'll still be able to go back and forward (in case you have any 6'0" tall friends that you'll let drive). It works really nice and still leaves plenty of headroom because you are not sitting up straight. you're sitting in your easy chair at home.

    Just my 2 cents

I guess there is big and tall or worst case senario both in the one package.
Sometimes I have notice you can be tall but do have all the height in the legs an things still work out OK if the car aint chopped.

I have read a few comments regarding model A's, but when you think about it and it probably applies to any early 30's cars.

A tudor usually gives you the advantage of pushing the seat back quite aways.
Plus remove the package try from a coupe and you are doing OK also.
The worst would be pickups and open cars.
The 28/29 model A pickup has the advantage than you can buy extender quarter panels which may help out

The model A open cars all have very short doors so if you have big feet as well it is kinder hard to get your feet between the A pillar and the seat riser.

I have measured it and the T coupe has the longest leg room without the package tray but is slightly narrower than the model A coupe by about 1 inch.

If you are built like a Sumo wrestler then best go lat 30's or 50's even better.
Some times the getting in and out is the hardest, once shoe horned in you can usually cope if the fire wall is not recessed too much and the journey is not too long.

Well put Bruce that was real helpful about the back rest angle, I did not know that.
I guess too many folks get involved in what the outside appearance will be like and forget that some how they will need to be comfortable and fit into a position that makes driving easy and safe.

I had an original 29 model A closed cab pickup, great vehicle, but real difficult to brake as my knee always would hit the steering wheel.
