This is the kind of Model A sedan the HAMB is about. New guys need to understand folks who have been on here longer understand the purpose of the HAMB. There are boards for cars like Slaughter built, but this isn't one of them.

Another way to look at it (slaughterhouse, pay attention). Your out driving this 18 day wonder and through no fault of your own this thing goes out of control crosses the centerline and hits a sedan with a full family aboard. The father and mother are killed instantly along with the small child that the mother was holding. One of the two kids in the back seat is ejected as the car rolls over and is crushed beneath ,dying in the paramedics arms as he tries to extract her. The other is alive after sustaining broken bones and sever lacerations and after months in rehab returns to his grandparents home where he is raised to the best of their ability but never gets over the trama that reoccures as he relives that horrible day.
That's not the worse part. After the word goes out that the accident has happened the local news is on the scene to record the whole event. The cameras (or worse yet, live TV) scan the scene and take in the carnage. Besides the broken bodies being loaded (some with blankets over their faces) your car comes into view. It's twisted and almost unrecognizable (much like it was before the accident) with pieces that came off during the accident scattered all about the scene. Suddenly the camera catches you staring at your creation with a dazed look (through no fault of your own you escape with minor injuries). The reporter comes up and asks if it's your car. What is going to be your response when asked if you built it and if you were qualified to make the the alterations that obviously have taken place?
This is too long but you get the idea. The lawyers of the victims will be calling to get your statement and your insurance man will be advising you that the minimum coverage you had won't begin to cover the total. Manslaughter charges, possible jail time...............it will never end. Are you getting any idea why us old guys are on your case? What you do reflects on us to because like the reporter WILL emphasize you were driving a HOT ROD:mad: GUARANTEED..........YOU'LL WISH YOU HAD DIED IN THE "ACCIDENT"?

my thing wasn't on the comments about whether it belongs or not. I'm talkin' bout the brow beating. But whatever, I'm an fng what do I know.

  6. His answer would be..."Yes it's my car. I built it in 18 days."

if thats the case then why aren't we all driving stock 4 banger A's so we don't hurt anyone. Or maybe a brand new electronically controlled, 4 wheel disc grocery getters from honda or somethin.

  8. FNG doesn't mean stupid. I was really pointing that you haven't been around long enough to remember all the other threads that have covered wether Ratrods belong on here or not. Most of the tension is because of the way we get looked down opon sometimes and get stereotyped in with cars like that. I think that whole "squashed" looking car is over. At least,I hope it is...

The way I see it is, I don't bag on anybody's work whether it's my style or not. Most folks stuff is not my style, but that's just because I fit in such a small niche that it's hard to quantify. It it could be quatified, it would be closest to what the Japanese are doing with hot rods and customs and choppers. But I'm rambling.

Now that said, I don't come on here and post something that's the polar opposite of what this place is about.

What if I had come here with this...

    Check out my latest build...

Would this stomp anything that cost less than a hundred grand on a race track? Yes. Did I build it myself? Yes. Well not from the ground up. But it had more suspension tuning than most would care to think about. Was it a kick ass car? Definately. 250 rwhp, rear wheel drive, roadster, like a go kart on rails, real deal impossible to find japanese race car shit everywhere carefully imported by me and me alone because it was better and cooler than anything easily available here for this particular car. This was a purpose built real deal track day superstar. THE most thrilling driving EXPERIENCE I've ever had in a car (bag away if you want, it was a race car with a license plate). Does it belong here? Definately not.

    Or how about this?

Did I build it myself? Yes. Would it drive over your house? Hell fuck yes! Is it so bad ass that I never even had to put it in 4 low no matter how deep the mud? Definately yes. Lifted, 33" tires, 345 V8, open exhaust, Rhino lined inside and out. Does it belong here? For sure it doesn't.

Both of the above are about as far away as slaughterhouse's car from what this place is about. What I'm trying to say in a round about way is that once you start to tolerate the cars and trucks that don't fit in with the hamb philosophy, you've got yourself a minitruckin'/rice wagon/muddin'/chopper/"fill in the blank" forum instead of a traditonal hot rods and customs forum. Pretty soon, you get topics like "who's got the best barbecue rib recipe?". There are other better places for the other things. Just the way it is. Get used to it. Don't like it? Let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya! Now I'm not saying you have to run pre-'65 lug nuts along with everything else to fit in here. But you can't build a cartoon and expect to be welcomed with open arms either.

So please, pretty please with sugar on top, close this. It's gone on long enough already. And remember, I'm not baggin' on the guy's car.

bad bob, I understand that. But at least it wasn't 'glass or freshly stamped. It was a real body with a chevy engine. pretty much typical stuff I see all day on this site. My last point was on the "safety" post and its relevance.

What if it hit a truck carrying a nuclear weapon and it blew up half of the US and the radioactive fallout killed the rest?

Whether it belongs here or not, WAS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO USE ALL CAPS TO TELL US ABOUT IT? Calm down would ya, it looks like a hundred others I've seen over the past few years, there's really nothing special about.
Enjoy it, but please don't mess things up for the rest of us.

I was going to say, "What took so long to build it?"
    This explains it all.
