Is it a good product? Is there a better place to buy paint , quality / price? I think the price here seem's reasonable but thought I'D ask before buying if anyone has more info one way or the other. http://www.tcpglobal.com/Restorationshop/
Bought my first round of flake from them. No problems at all. Smooth and inexpensive (notice not cheap!).
I bought some, but its still in a box out in the shed. Price is real inexpensive. Don't know about the short or long of the material. Ended up selling the car before it was painted.
I am going to base/clear . found here . Gallon of color 1 gallon reducer . Gallon clear plus reducer / hardener. http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/itemdetail.aspx?itemno=RSP+UB1107-KIT-F
I dont know about that paint, but I have got Pinstriping stuff from them and always got great service
I kind of like to buy my paint locally, just in case it isn't right.I'm sure the quality from the sellers on here is fine, just my preference I guess. By the way I know my car isn't really painted but it will be just like previous projects were
Yeah I get that for sure , Last time I got paint in Denver it was $500 for materials , base/clear , same color white. BTW I grew up in NH. Durham actually.
I'M in CO , wish you were closer, when I'M done painting I wish to pin stripe it, just one line down the sides and a stripe around the rims as they will be painted the body color.I might buy some stuff and practice a while and try it myself. My car is an old Impala and about a mile long.
Another inexpensive way to go, especially with white, is to get farm implement paint from the places that cater to the farming crowd. Of course you are extemely limited on color choice, but the paint obviously has to be durable,, and its usually about half what you would pay for color choice. White is always cheaply priced as well as black.
There is an Ace right up the street. I will look into that , but then I need clear. Thanks man , I like how helpful people here are.
Isn't that the same stuff that Summit is selling? I heard it was similar to Dupont........never tried it. Similar to other low cost lines(omni, etc). I suppose you get what you pay for....
That stuff is most likely Dupont Omni, repackaged. That's what their line of Flatz paints are anyway. Decent stuff for a decent price. You may want to look for a NAPA store and check out their Crossfire line, it's decent paint too, and it's their economical line. I've used quite a bit of the crossfire, out here in the sticks, it's my only local choice.
ive painted cars for 14 years now! dont by tractor enamel, especially if its gonna be in the weather alot, it has no uv protection!! find a ppg dealer and get shop line acrylic enamel with hight gloss hardener. its inexpensive and sprays beautifully!! you wont be sorry!!
I used some of their paint of a few projects. They spray nice. I also ordered so hot rod flats from them too.
I can't lie , it's not going to be a show car but a driver. I live in high al***ude so I need to ask the supplier what the UV property's are with the clear. Al***ude KILL's paint. Wonder if painting @ 9500 feet poses any issues other then PSI and Compressors not recovering.Anyone that know's anything about al***ude knows it messes with everything.
If you just want a stripe down the side of the car, check out the pinstriping section on that same site. They have a pull out tape for masking out single or double stripes. Pulling a single line down the side of a car seperates the men from the boys, striping wise.
good prices....terrible customer service. They lost my orders twice in one month. When I recieved one of the orders it was the wrong size flake. It was too much of a h***le to return it...so I kept it.
I am currently using their DTM epoxy primer and like it a lot. They shipped fast for me, and combined shipping on multiple items. So far so good from here anyway.
TCP global stuff is on both my bike and mini bike. They're both medium gold flake, and both were shot by my buddy craig smith "The Liberace" here on the H.A.M.B. His former car, a channeled '32 with a Roth styled nose is on the cover of WORLD OF RODS this month, and every bit of the paint on that car is TCP Kustom shop stuff. I was there first hand as the car was sprayed and was very impressed at how the material laid down and dried flat right out of the gun. More importantly Craig was impressed, as this is what he does every day, and has done several complete paint jobs with TCP stuff since.
