My opinion is selling takes more guts / guys that are in there 50's and up are too lazy and do not want to spend the time to get top $$$ for their cars that is why some sit on them until they die. If you are married and enjoy the faithful until you die thing "like you should" then why don't you experience life and enjoy as many cars as possible until you pass. Thirty two's are cool but doesn't mean you are. Try and sell your cars // bet you can't even get emotionally ready. People ask me what i have now and roll their eyes as if they think it's rediculous to sell anything. Well they are rediculous and lazy to hang on forever...get a life dudes.

  2. Okay . . . so why are you ranting about this? Somebody must have pulled your chain or something - must be some recent salt in your seller wounds?

I know you've been selling some cars - so what - build em', drive em', sell em', keep em' . . . they're your cars, do what makes you happy!

If you want to sit on them tell you die and will them to a grandchild, nephew, etc -- great as long as they appreciate the "gift". How many families would love to have NOT lost their hotrod heritage? My family never had any hotrods - except ONE . . . and thank gosh my Uncle gave it to me for my 15th birthday and I'm NOT selling it as long as I'm able to drive . . .

i'm an oldfart and i sold 300 plus cars in 2 years...go to my album..i've got 78 more to go..let's see what kind of guts you've got!!!

  7. Someone won't sell you a car, or someone won't sell you a car for the price you offered because it's not top dollar?

Selling a vehicle is a lot of work, I'll give you that, unless it's a '32-'34 Ford or a Deusenberg or something you have to really get it out there and it still takes time to find a guy who will pay the freight.

But no one has to sell anything if they don't want to, short of a court order or something, a person's property is theirs to do with what they please. I tell whiners all the time we don't have to sell anything at all, selling them is just a hobby and I have no time to put up with bullshit... it cuts down on a lot of the nonsense.

I'm not sure if I get the point. If someone is in their 50's they are old and should sell their cars? Is that what you are saying?

Are you bitter because you are trying to get a car off a "old guy" and he does not want to sell to you?

  10. Butch took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and heard his father's words, "Courage, Butch..be brave." Butch's fears began to fade...he felt empowered...he looked the potential buyer right in the eye and said, "I'll take your offer." The room fell silent..all eyes on Butch...What a man! Several hot chicks gave him the "call me" signal.

Well nuts, here I am an old fart, about ready to kick the bucket, and I told Lil' Hellraiser, just the other day, to dig a big hole and bury me in my 32. I am going to take it with me.:D

  25. I don't know if I even understand your post or what you're trying to get at, but I'll take a stab at it.

Maybe guys in their 50's don't sell their cars because their tired of broke ass young guys making ridiculous lowball offers on iron they could never hope to afford.

It does'nt take any guts to do either. Im 51 and I'll be damned if Im going to let my stuff go cheap because someone wants me to.Worked to long and to hard to get where I am. As far as being lazy, I so far have been able to work circles around a lot of younger guys [ not all] without to much of a sweat.

Or, maybe they don't sell them because they are enjoying them. I'm 59, and I went for a nice drive today and really enjoyed myself. I plan on enjoying my toys for many years to come.
Or, are you saying, that at a certain age we should relinquish our possessions that we worked so hard to have and enjoy?
This photo was taken about 4 hours ago after I crawled under the car to get a branch that was stuck underneath...do I look like I'm having a lousy, 76 degree day?

I'll guess what everyone else is guessing. He wants something he can't have/afford. I don't want to sell anything of mine because frankly, I try to do one project at a time. I get tired of hearing about guys with 15 billion project cars rotting away in their yards and they won't sell, or they give the Barrett-Jackson price. That's the owner's decision though.
But as such, I believe a project car is never done, not even when you think it is finished. There will always be something you need to upgrade, fix, or change the look of. That's why I'd keep what I have.
I'm interpreting the original post as he is saying, "What are we afraid of by selling our cars? Does it not take guts to start the whole process over again, doing a restoration from scratch all over again? By not selling our cars and doing that over again, that makes us lazy."
