I wouldn’t sell my three window (my first car) under any circumstances and there have been many.
Even if Mazooma himself walked up my driveway with all the money on the planet.
Ya I said it, pack sand.

My Grandpa's 1965 F100. I wouldn't take a billion dollars for it. He drove it from 1973 til right before he passed away in 1992. Once when I had just turned 16, we were overhauling the old 240 six, and I accidentally turned over the a frame and busted out the windshield! The old man busted out laughing and sat down and smoked a cigarette! Later when we were unbolting the seat to clean out all the glass, he looked across the truck and told me "son when we get this old dog running, she's yours." He passed away not long after that. I love my Grandpa so much, I miss him every day!

None of them can be bought.

Hope my son feels the same about his first car.

And when I kick off, my 65 is going to my nephew, who also would never sell it. Unless I get my way and am buried in it.

Me and my dad and some of my closest friends built my '34. ITS NOT FOR SALE. The only way I would part with it is if the dollar amount was enough to make every party envolved in the building of that car extremely wealthy. Ahh, around half a million or so. :) Not kidding. lol

I seem to always drive junk no one wants anyway, and the rare time when I tell someone "not for sale", I hear the "everything's got a price" rant. well, yeah I reckon it does, But how many times have we over-priced one to hear "THAT CAR AINT WORTH THAT"..................? And you hear every little thing they see wrong with your ride. I am 46 and still have the 48 chev 2dr fleetline I learned to drive in, when I was 9. It is a p.o.s, but it's MY p.o.s.!

FWIW I didn't see a contradiction there. I have a Rat Fink Zippo that's autographed by Roth. He and I spent a 1/2hr just talkin. Nothing really earth shattering, a nice visit. I didn't want to ask but he's someone that meant something to me growing up. Is it for sale? No. Reality check...what would I do with that amount of money? What's it worth? A C note maybe? I can make that in no time flat these days as can many others. Will someone come up and say "I'll give you $25,000 for that lighter..."? Sure, when monkeys jump outta yer ass. He mentioned a genuine family hierloom that should have more value than money can buy. Like my lighter, it's not about the money, frankly because it's not the same as an asset like a vehicle. It's not something that has a value to the mainstream population that should the need arise could solve a problem. Maybe I'm more pragmatic about the whole car thing. I certainly wish I'd have kept a few of em (a 36 3W and a 69 Boss 302 come to mind) but I bought a house for my family with the Boss, got completely out of debt with the 3W, started a buisness from the sale of another, bought a house with the sale of a very nice Harley later on, I have ZERO regrets about any of those cars. They served a higher purpose to my life's picture. Not only did I have the pleasure and passions of ownership, I've also been blessed with memories of good times, lessons learned in bad times, knowledge that serves me still today regarding cars and their places in history. I can't say what would have been had I kept some of them. Would I still have em? Would I be where I'm at, happy and moving forward with few worries? Could I sell my lighter and build another garage/shop? No, but I'd sell one of my cars an hour from now if that were the case.

'zooma1, I get the watch thing. Clear as crystal bro. We all have "things" that can't be bought, some have cars that are that way. Some of us have the ability to start over through the car life we live and don't fear the loss. Does this reduce the interest we seem to share on the HAMB, our cars? I don't see it that way, never will.

  18. Not as long as my wife and I are still breathing the wagon will not be sold, too much family history,,,hopefully one of my daughters or grandchildren will have it for years to come.

My wife's grandmother bought it off the showroom floor in 1954 and it was passed on to her father and then my wife,,we hope the tradition continues.

The little girl in the photo grew up and became my wife,,

And as the car looks today on it's road to recovery,,HRP

I used to think I never would but have since changed my mind. Time to move on.

  24. Everything I have ever owned has always been available for the next owner.

  25. AGAIN you cannot suggest that guys are not being truthful about not selling a car for the same reasons and make posts that if a guy walked up your driveway and handed you $500,000 for your car you would sell it or if your wife needed surgery you would sell it and then say you wouldn't sell a watch or a lighter if the same thing happened to you. That was my point. He was coming up with hypothetical possibly unrealistic (like your $25,000 lighter example) situations to try and get guys to admit that everyone has a price to sell their car (or my point whatever else they may see value in) and then says his grandfathers watch isn't for sale. His very first post was "don't flatter yourself too much, EVERYTHING has it's price" you cannot then say you own something that would NEVER be for sale. I call that a contradiction. You can't have it both ways.

I agree with his point and respect that in very unusual cirumstances there are things that otherwise wouldn't be for sale that I or others would probably sell but that is not really the point of this thread.

Although it is an off-topic ride, I will never get rid of 'Old MaryJane' my '65 VW Kombi. She's one of my kids. If that bus could talk...I know she listens.

As far as I can see into the future my car wont be for sale. I've managed to buy my first house without selling it. Obviously needs may take over in the future but it will never be sold because I want rid of it.

  29. I like to say that my car's aren't for sale, but in reality they would definitely be for the right price. Now the right price to me may be so unrealistic that it would never happen however.

Most people would say that something is not for sale either because they know its not a real proposition or the right price hasn't been offered - or both.
