hey that's pretty cool for 2k. The side window/sail panel and or whatever it is called is kind of ugly. Too bad the pics are so small.

I actually really like it. I thought it was a Merc, though? The trunk definitely looks more like a '49-'51 Merc than a Ford, and I thought I had seen it mentioned as a Merc somewhere. Hopefully someone will save it. [IMG]

Damn, I think that is a beauty. I really like the front end. Somebody needs to resore it back to look like the magazine pictures. . . metallic blue and all.

im with brush on this one, ick

    its a 49 ford? how?

    I like bobbleeds much more

  11. Chop it about 4" and put a '57 Buick windshield into it. Slam it down low. That would fix it up pretty well, the front would still be kind of homely... some Lincoln or Chrysler quad lights might help though. And yeah, if that's a Ford and not a Merc, someone hung Merc quarters on it -

The rear-quarters and taillights are neat in my book. The front has a more futuristic, "factory-experimental" theme going. I like it, but its not beautiful.

  13. That actually is one of the better executed Barris projects...Ithink it has merit and hope someone restores it...I am personally not a CUSTOM fan -but after all its history and I am in favor of maintaining what little of our hobbys remains we can.......
BTW is that a Rambler roof? [IMG]

Well, I am a big kustom fan and from what I know it has nothing to do with Barris. Even when George Barris wrote the article for Custom Cars Fb 1960 he mentioned that all the work were performed by its owner Leo Lynos. If it would have been a Barris kustom I would not have stated that it would have been be one of the better executed Barris projects . But I do like its design, its a part of the custom history, and I really do hope that the next owner will know its historical value (and that has got nothing to do with money). To me it seems that seller dont know much about it, not even the make of it...

Wow, i think its really cool that someone on the board ended up with it..its definately got a certain something going for it..i think it would look alot better, though, with the roof a few inches lower, but chopping it might not be the best idea, given its history...good luck with the resto, keep us posted...bob

Well, look at it this way... if you don't have it done by the first one, you still have another chance. [IMG] [IMG]

Got the feeling it will be a long and painfull process, but I can't imagine it not being worth it.

Craig, thanks for bringing this back.
I missed it while I was entertaining BenD on his escapade in the frozen north(Detroit)the first time around.

Now that I have seen it, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. [IMG]

I do know that the car is in very capapable hands.

Are you gonna put a Saints plaque on this one? [IMG]

yea, this one will run a saints plaque.
My buddy Tommy (el Diablo) picked it up for me today.
    He said it's pretty complete.
Now the question, Restore exactly as it was, or try to make some subtle changes. (chopped top, better front end) [IMG]

    We'll see.

is it really worth 4,000? or is that just because
    George Barris made it?

and why did the guy go through the trouble of making the New Pictures black and white like the old ones? that's not how you list an ebay item.
