Oh, Austin doesn't have anything but good hotels and motels. It is our state Capital you know.

Seriously, decide whether you want to stay near the Continental Club and crusing strip or nearer the fairgrounds for that action, check on the web for Austin Visitor's Center and get all the information there.

There are a lot of options... while the Austin Motel is already sold-out, there are the St. Cecilia and San Jose on (near) Congress... they are both quite near the Continental Club.

North on Congress, but still on the south side of the river are:
Emb***y Suites (300 S Congress) - marcy setup a 'Roundup' discount - search the registration thread...
    Hyatt (208 Barton Springs)
Homestead Studio Suites (507 S 1st - about 6 blocks west of Congress, still close)

then across the river, and into downtown - several options in the convention center area:
Hampton Inn (2nd street, I think)
    Hilton (500 E 4th)
Extended Stay America (6th & Guadalupe)
    Four Seasons
    Driskill

for the budget-minded, there are a group of hotels off I-35 south, near the Oltorf Exit:
    Clarion
    LaQuinta
    Howard Johnsons
    Country Garden

East on 71, near the Riverside intersection, which is one of the routes out to the Expo center from downtown/Congress, is a group of hotels (also near the airport):

    LaQuinta
    Holiday Inn Express
    Comfort Suites,
    Hampton Inn / Suites

there are many other choices in town, but those seem to be most convenient for Motorheads on that weekend. Note that some of these choices may be $$$. finally, I would stay away from I-35 North, especially in the Rundberg area...no offense to anyone who may live in that neighborhood (and is neighbors to my cousins...)

If your budget allows, the San Jose is at ground zero . If you want to risk not wanting to get up in the morning because the bed is so comfortable, then the St Cecelia is your best bet. I can't coment on the other hotels as I've never stayed anywhere else. See ya in Austin.

Do not stay in the Econo Lodge! I think they rent the rooms out by the hour during the week.
