Any one running a wilcap adapter on there mopar flat head 6 with a gm auto behind it thinking of getting one for my wayfarer project. Info on how you installed it and pictures would be really appreciated. http://www.wilcap.com/chryslerfh.html#230350BOPAT
Yea let me know if you get a progress report the adapter looks very well built from the photo's. One thing I've read is you loose some substantial HP from installing the auto.
Seeings as there isn't much horsepower to begin with, I definately say the parisitic drag of a slushbox will slow you down. You will never see 200 hp on these motors without grenading so you have a cruiser not a speedster. The crankshaft mains just won't handle it. With a T-5 conversion, dual carbs, split exhaust, and a shaved head you might get 150 horses that scoot down the road at 75 mph. A 60 overbore wouldn't hurt either. But it will never be a fast car.
I have a wilcap behind my flattie, mated to a 700r4. A VERY nice piece of hardware, with all the proper fasteners included.
Not looking for a speed machine as well the motor is all done up already bored 40over, aluminum pistons, a hot cam, duel carbs, and split pipes. I just want to make sure that the new trans will not totally kill performance before I shell out the cash for adapter.
Bump! I'm thinking of doing this with my '36 Airstream, my original ****** is shot (out in the weather and full of water the last 35 years).
