Hey anyone know where I can find a set of amber headlamps for a 54 chevy, I saw them on a 52 once an liked the way they looked. is their such thing as amber headlamps, or did this guy just throw some amber fog lamps in there?

  5. When I worked at the Mercedes-Benz dealership,we received a bunch of replacement headlamp bulbs(non-sealed beam)that were yellow and designed for use in France and Nigeria.Osram(the bulb manufacturer)used to sell them but I don't think they're legal for use in the USA.I saw a set of yellow high beam lamps in a 4 lamp car once but I think they were fog lamps.

Just in case anyone else is looking for them, the guy I got them from has a website www.kustomkarparts.com but I don't think he's doing the coating on them anymore but when I bought mine he even offered a couple other colors. If he doesn't make them maybe he'll let you know where to get the coating.

I did a set years ago and just happened to do another set yesterday. Get yourself a set of halogen lights with replaceable bulbs.
Then go down to your local craft store and pick up some "stained glass paint". Take out your bulbs, pour a tiny bit (you can always add more if you have to) of the paint, hold the lense above your head as you slowly rotate it around to evenly distribute the paint onto the lense. Then lay the light face down until it dries. If you add too much, it will pool in the lowest point of the lense, which will make for a dark area. The heat from the bulb will do the final curing, no need to stick the lights in the oven like the instructions on the bottle call for. The first set were on the road for well over 10 years and still looked good the last time that I saw them.

You can probably ask some French HAMBer to help you. They have had yellow (not orange, though) lights for years.

It was the law I think, but now they have intergated more in to EU, and dropped the mantatory part, but I think they are still widely used.

I had some yellow H4 bulbs I bought in France. Looked kinda funny on my 57 Chevy though...

  11. I got some H4 bulb covers at a RiceBoy shop a few years ago.

They look cool in the Euro 914.

    Look stock when off.

Also I saw some film that goes on the outside at R Speed in Atlanta.

Its right about amber lights in france. The autoparts stores over here sold amber paint for anyone going to france,I had the lights on my mini amber. I have not seen any in a long time. The window paint sounds like the same deal.
