    Hello,

New to the site, first post. I recently picked up this Sun 820 tester and have bee tryiing to find a manual for it online. I stumbled across this website through a good search and have to say what a great site!!! Glad I found it.

Would any of you know where I can source out a manual for this tester? I have checked epay with no luck for the past 3 weeks.

    Thank for your help!

    Z

I have the operator's manual for the 945. It's a newer (and bigger more capable) machine, but it works pretty much the same.

    http://www.selectric.org/sun/scope.html

not all of it is there, if you have specific questions about a diffferent part of the ****yzer other than the scope, let me know by PM

Keep a watch on "Sun Tester" on Ebay as manuals show up for various machines there.

If I remember right those units didn't handle a lot of voltage. They are great with the old point and condenser ignitions but Hei's are too much for them voltage wise.

Those were pretty much on the way out in 1976 or so. I had one where I worked, we made up our own crude pickup coil to do HEI distributors. I think Sun has something for it though. They're great all around testers, great score.

I doubt HEI would be a problem, my machine has an HEI cap adapter, its' an inductive pickup as is the regular coil wire pickup.

I am going to be using it on my 68 Wagoneer. Don't know if the Jeep is HAMB friendly but I love it and was lucky enough to find one after a long search over the years. Bough*** from the original owner with 86000 miles on the odometer.

Came from the factory with a Buick 350, TH400 Hydromatic. Rochester 2 Jet carb.
