Any photos of 1930's Lake Modifides?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jacksonville jalopy, Jan 12, 2010.

  1. Dose any one have un-published photos of 1930's Lake modifides with Whippet grill shells and Franklin front axles? I have all the easy to find books covering the lakes and early hot rods. I'm working on my lakester and could alway use the help.

Go to the *****s website and go to Pit Crew Gallery and check out Jim Renchs at Hotrod Stuffs narrowed 27 early style roadster. Very cool!

  12. Thanks!

The frame is a 1927 Wippet as is the grill. The front wheels are 19" Chevys with Coker cycle tires, as for the back it has 17" Ford wheels with 17-7.00 Coker tires. It getting lever shocks in all the way around.

  13. Thanks with the help with the photos, Codeman

Great project! It's neat seeing someone build a 3-springer. I am gathering parts to build a very similar style car. Whippet shell, 27 Chevy frame, 27 Chrysler tube axle...24-25 T body...and 4-banger powered.

Keep us posted on the progress.

  19. Now, that I have all the parts things are going realy fast.

I'm using a pair of split late 30's Lincoln front bars for the rear. I found a great tech in the Feb 2010 Rod and Custom on using the split bars for the back. and they have some good tech on lever shocks as well.

I was able to get a wippet shell but am unsure what to do for a core. The upper tank is the tuff part. If anyone has a spare one pm me. Anyone have any thoughts on how to make one? - Norm
