  2. Since the new year rolled in, night and day. Cars pouring onto the market at what looks like much more reasonable prices. Projects coming out of the woodwork. They will continue to do so. Price will fall through the year. Lots of folks in trouble, need the money. It's called "deflation." It's definitely coming to an auto auction near you. Sellers, beware.

Hard to find anything in my regional area that's not rusted to hell with an outrageous price. Found a couple so-so deals but nothing to write home about.

Cheap Cheap Cheap here in Mid OHIO times are hard and People Getting Laid Off everywhere and I also noticed if they want 1000 for it offer them 500 and you may walk away with it lots of half done classics for sale

  8. DirtyThirty, that is exactly right. I am thinking that these days, if you buy it, you better love it because the idea that you will turn it around and sell it to somebody else in 6 months at a profit? That idea is gone. Buy what you love and are willing to hold onto for a long time.

Here in Missouri things seem a little stagnant as well. I don't see alot of things up for sale a good prices. A few maybe but there just isn't as much as one might think being put out there. And if they are a good deal you had better jump VERY VERY fast cause they don't sit. Saw a mid year Corvette right before Christmas that was gone in 4 hours, and it was half that in drive time!

Seen that as well. Went and looked at an early 70's ot convertible and could tell the guy didn't want to part with it. Went home and thought on it and made a reasonable offer and now the guy wont respond even though he keeps relisting it. Guess he knows he has someone serious on it and had a change of heart.

I've got a couple of friends that buy and sell for side money. It seems they are trading up more than selling. Things on Craigslist seem to be just sitting. The only stuff that moves are the deals. Last month a guy put a pair of 12x15 ansens on ther for $150.00. They didn't last an hour!!!!!

Most of the people around here just keep asking high prices, and keep on looking at them sitting there, not selling.

I see that like anything else, good stuff is still worth having or buying. What happens is that "blue chip" cars stay in their collections if they're owned by those in it for the long haul and are true enthusiasts. The loser are the ones who inflate prices with in breeding amongst themselves. Does anyone really, REALLY believe that a 71 Cuda conv with a Hemi is worth more than a Duesenberg Murphy Roadster? Why? The motor? It's a drop-top dumpster of a car. I had a 383 Cuda cpe. Shit pile. Not a "blue chip" car ever. Sadly many out there have margined or borrowed to get some of these things with delusions of getting rich quick and I think that over the last 2 years reality has hit home. Good stuff will always be good stuff. There are great deals to be had and I wouldn't feel the least bit of remorse buying a car, parts, equipment or anything else from someone who needs to dump. I actually would be happy to help if I needed what they got. Overall I wish I had about $100K to put into good cars and projects. I think I could make 3-5times my investment in 3 years. What would I buy? None of your buisness...

Not bad but I live in Missouri so rust is always an issue.

  17. I've found a ton of killer deals here in Michigan..but the only problem is, I need to sell my car first before I can pick up more projects and I have a feeling it'll be hard finding a seller for my car since nobody has money..last 2 years when the economy was good here I had no problem selling a car for $12,000-$13,000

Seems like it's the same all over. Here in NZ there are plenty of cars for sale (mine included) but not much is moving. Again, there are deals popping up but they go pretty quick, just like always. We probably haven't had as bad a time as you guys in the US as far as unemployment goes. Big swapmeet (for us) at Kumeu (Auckland) this weekend so that could be an interesting indicator for the near future:)
