has anyone here built their own kingpins? what steel used?

  1. I am building a axle now using piston pins.
As for the Axle being smaller make a steel sleeve . Press it in and hone to size. When I make axles I press fit the king pin in the axle and use no lock bolt. . 002 undersize. Works great and doesn't come loose or wear.
Both th SR dragster and the Hemi Jeep use that.

the spindles are from a 62-80 mgb ,mgbs had 14 inch wheels and the mga wheels were 15's they are interchangeable mgbs also were available with bolt on wheels 4 lug though gotta tell ya its not as light as i expected though with the spring/bones axle/spindles/ wheels all together its pretty tough to lift

Doing stuff for people for free helps me get back tickling the keys in solidworks. It's like learning a musical instrument it takes so much practice!

Check the numbers and make sure it's as your print intended!

Your sketch had everything required to make the part. With a lot of machinist ***umptions thrown in for corners, tolerances, finishes, and geometric relationships. and the ***le block fine print.

This is grade C work. I Don't have a lot of mastery of the auto dimensioning for placement and scaling.

    ALSO.

All the shoulders are full radius. There are no flat faces on any shoulder on the part! Your bearing placement and chamfer size on the race I.D. determines better how the shoulders/corners/fillets are.

look me up any time you need free cad on relatively simple parts. I don't do engine block casting cores yet!

I've used O-1 to make them, some call it drill rod. Left mine soft, worked for me.
