i know this is a shot in the dark but here goes. a local hot rodder buddy of mine has asked me to help him sell some stuff on the net and i need to figure a ballpark starting price on some of it. right now the two items i need help pricing are a hood and convertible top frame for a 55/56 t-bird. anybody got any tips on pricing or selling this stuff ? thanks
Pick up a Hemmings and peruse the prices in there. 55-56 Birds have some of the most expensive parts around. 17 years ago, NOS bumper guards were $800. for four. I stumbled onto a set of used ones at the same time that had fair chrome and got $200. for them. Do some research....
[ QUOTE ] where's he sellin it? ebay, trade sites...? and what kinda condition ya talkin? [/ QUOTE ] condition is good. i've already tried a few hemmings with no luck. same for ebay. what i'm running into when i try the usual places is the rarity of these parts, there's just not enough of them on the market to compare to. (at least as far as i've been able to find) that's why i thought i'd fish around here. i figured with this big a pool of car nuts i'd find some t-bird guys to point me in the right direction. i just need to get in the ballpark here, i'd hate to list something for $200 when it may be worth $2000 and vice versa.
Call some of the 'Bird parts sellers and say you wanna' BUY one.....you'll get prices in a hurry !!! my guess is the conv. irons would go for about $1500 ........... jersey skip
I called my Pop on this one 'cause he sold his Bird recently. He said $1000 was a good deal $2500 was high a couple years ago. These prices are dependant on the fact that they have not started reproducing them? Don't know about the hood. -J
