Cool thread but my mind just goes into Overdrive on questions like this! I've always wanted a really special motor that very few other people have. My list in no particular order (well....maybe a little!) would be :
    A. 1963 Chevrolet 427-430 Z-11 motor
    B. 1965 Ford 427 SOHC
    C. 1970 Buick 455 Stage 2
    D. 1970 Pontiac Ram Air V
    E. 1965 Plymouth 426 Race Hemi
    F. 1969 Chevrolet 427 Aluminum ZL-1
Now, each one of these is a very special race engine and the absolute cream-of-the-crop when it comes to Detroit Engineering. These were the ultimate engines!

    Gawd, that BRM is chilling!

Mopar guy, so all aluminum stroked 426 with the 671 and alky/efi. Oh, and a separate tank of N for the smell.

Esoteric second place would be fresh one of these

If I gotta go Ford, the indy motor above would do it.

  22. I have another one.. well two no three. first a leroy 8sumthin v8 gas engine, then the 1100 ci dohc ford tank engine, then the 703ci GMC v12 And all would spin to 9000 rpm. I guess they would have to have titanium rotating assemblies or some space age material nasa wont tell us about. hows that for a no money limit stretch?

Hmmmm....Money no object? My tastes are still relatively cheap.

    A true 409 or 425 hp 409
430 cu in Chev Can Am motor
400 (or bigger, Dart?) block with 283/302 crank
4.500 bore bowtie block, 3.76 stroke, good heads and mechanical injection
    GMC twin-six, 710 cube engine

i really like flatheads, but i love the way a supercharged DOHC Ford Modular motor sounds

  28. Very cool but if I can have anything I want I still want the aluminum block to go with it. Is that yours ? What's the story on it ? What's the number that kinda looks like a VIN number to the left of the assembly code ? From what I know they were never put into any production cars. Top end conversion added to an existing DZ block ?

  29. For me a Hemi with 8 twos in and A coupe. Blown BBC in a prostreet mid year Vette or an all out nailhead in a 34 Ford, depends on the car I am building.

One of my 'dream' projects, a lightweight, inline 6 powered, traditional T roadster, and this engine isn't very big, or expensive, just rather unique...

1969 Triumph TR6 PI engine. 2500cc 0r 155ci. 150hp stock, 200 on the street available with some work, 6800rpm redline, motor and gearbox weighs 200kg so under 400lb.

Biggest 'feature' is the injector system. Full mechanical, sequential injectors by Lucas. (yes, the Lord of Darkness himself) Designed during WW2 for use on English tanks, adapted to Jaguar racing cars in the 1950's, the first production vehicle offered with injection 1969 Triumph 2.5Pi sedan and TR6 PI sports cars. Injectors weren't available on US TR6's, no way would they pass the emission tests!

I had one of these engines in a 1970 PI sedan, it ran from idle to redline without a hint of lag, pulled 4950 rpm in top gear one day on an open road (129mph) and makes a sound like you wouldn't believe!

    Cheers, Glen.
